The rains have returned to Northern California!

After a couple of weeks of nice rain, we had absolutely nothing for about ten days. Last night, we had a nice, steady downpour, and the pavement outside is still wet, though I see sun peeking through the clouds. We need more rain if we're going to be rid of the drought that's had us in its grips for several years now. I hope our neighbors to the South got some rain as well. Any precipitation where you are?

I enjoy listening as well. Usually I turn off my radio. But last night, I fell asleep with it on.

We are having a very windy, rainy day here in western Oregon and that is okay. I talked to a friend in Van Nuys the other day and he said they have had very little and an article in the LA Times said that El Nino was not going to help southern Calif much.

That's disappointing for Southern California. I was hoping they'd have a big rain year as well.

Glad you have some sunshine to celebrate. I take the word "drought" is not spoken there as much as here.

Yes, the rain arrived in Los Angeles last evening and continued overnight. The system is clearing out now and the sun is emerging.

I'm glad you got some too. In November, I was worried that El Nino would bathe Southern California but neglect the North. So far, it's been the opposite.

@TheHorse You always get colder weather up north with more rain and snow. It's a desert down here. In terms of the drought, it's the snow pact that's vital.

None for the last 3 days and that is fine cause it would just be more snow; instead we are experiencing a 'heat wave' with today in the upper 30's while the weekend will be in the 50's . . . so stuff will be melting all over the place, ugggh

Melting is OK as long as it doesn't freeze up again and turn to ice.

It probably should not since even Sunday is again in the 40's, we won't be getting any arctic drops until late into the first week of March . . . but by that time the melting will have been absorbed where it desperately was needed @TheHorse

This was our first dry day for a long while. If I was in a position to send our rain to your then I would gladly donate a great volume of it because we never have any scarcity here.

It is still February though nearing end of it. Our rainy season starts in June and ends somewhere mid to end October, at times extending into november. While the season is long, the rainfall may not be sufficient. Usually, some places get inundated whereas others remain drought pone. Either way, we are short of water.
