Do you do this?

I have noticed every now and then there are videos attached to posts. Some are visual representation of the posts themselves, some add information, some are not relevant to the discussion really. On the other hand there is a reader who has limited time and is trying to interact with as many people as he or she can. There are others who need some entertainment and have time on their hands and there are others who just want to be done with each discussion and make some pennies here. I guess all of us have different approaches to the way we do things.. do you always watch the videos before responding to the posts? How often do you skip the video and respond to the post itself? Do you like to see videos? I am just interested to know how you approach these video discussion

I mostly try to watch the video first. If it is just a song and a song I know and I don't have a lot of time I might skip the video. I like the videos to be relevant to the post. I DO NOT say I've seen the video if I haven't. I think mostly they add a little extra to most posts and in some cases they add a lot. My travel posts would be very ordinary without the videos.

@JudyEv I generally avoid music videos. I watch most of your videos because they actually show what you are talking about. I agree that your videos add more color to your travel posts. I avoid watching videos that hold no interest for me.

@marlina Same here. I don't watch certain genres of music videos as they don't interest me at all

Whether or not I will watch a video on someone's discussion depends on who is the someone... I will watch a video for more information about the discussion, but not if it has nothing to do with the discussion itself. I have noticed several people tend to put up videos just to add "flavor" or "atmosphere" to their discussions. Nope! I won't watch those and if they do it a second time, I usually quit reading their discussions all together. I am here to talk about things, not listen to what kind of music they like. (I am honestly not into music. I don't have it playing in the background here at home and I don't go to concerts or festivals to listen to music...) Some people think I am weird because of that... I don't mind. I came here to talk, not listen to music. When @Bluedoll posted the video about the lioness adopting the monkey, I watched the video. (It was very good and added to her written post.)

@DaddyEvil I guess you have a point there.. its about the relationship you have with the person and about how it is connected to the subject. Like you I am not too keen on music.. these days all I listen to is gospel music. I love animal videos I always fall for them.

@sofssu I tend to sing gospel music or Christmas songs when I am distracted by what I am doing and never notice I am singing or even humming unless someone else points it out to me. (To me, if I am singing or humming without realizing it, that just means I feel good about myself and whatever I am doing.... all systems are go, if you understand where I am coming from with that?) I am usually not into animal videos, either, but since it was Bluedoll suggesting it, I watched it and enjoyed it. Yeah, it definitely depends on who is "asking" me to watch or listen whether I actually do, or not. After I left your discussion last night, I went to Raja's new discussion. He was asking people's opinion of the song he was listening to at the time he wrote the discussion. Since it was him asking, I listened to the song. It wasn't "my" type of music, but as I told him, I could tolerate it as long as it was not too loud for us to hear each other over it if we were talking and it played in the background. I did explain that I have ask people to turn the music off if it was too loud to talk over or they were paying more attention to the music than to the discussion. Once, I had someone refuse to lower the volume or shut the noise off when he had invited me over to talk about something. Since he wanted to listen to the music, I left. He tried to claim I was rude to leave in the middle of our "talk"! I explained I tried to talk but he wanted to listen to music instead of what was being discussed. (Why can people not see their own faults, but must blame others for them? SMH!)

I read the post, look at the videos (I love @JudyEv videos) and then comment. And yes 99% of the time I watch the video, I have skipped a few that were just sharing a song, not related to the post... (just not interested unless it related)

@PainsOnSlate That is a high percentage. I skip songs too most of the time and choose other posts to comment on.

@sofssu there is only a certain amount of time to spend on the website. First I respond to my notifications and get back to everyone who read and left a comment, I return the favor back to them too, then I write usually one post a day, then I visit those interesting discussions until my time runs out. I don't have the time to watch a music video, I'd rather read and comment so that's what I do

I always watch the videos and slides. Most of them are phenomenal! I also listen to the songs or music, especially if I haven't heard them before. 2 minutes out of my mylotting time could be educational. I never lie and say I have watched something if I haven't.

@DianneN Glad that you take time to watch and comment. I don't lie , I usually avoid such posts if I have no time or chose other posts from the same mylotter to comment on.

@DianneN In this case I didn't choose a post without videos.. I was more interested in your new avatar or display picture. I would be interested in watching the video of your grand daughter.

@sofssu That's being honest. I noticed you chose a different post of mine, rather than the 2 minute and only video I've ever posted of my granddaughter's 1st place win in an ice skating competition.

@SIMPLYD I am glad you check out the videos. I responded to her post but didn't actually watch the video since I was doing so many thing at the same time. Yeah I guess it helps us to know people better if they are personal videos and we are close to them.
