I personally love audio books, especially for long trips or commutes to work, etc. When I was very sick with cancer and didn't really have the concentration levels I needed to read I really enjoyed having the books on audio. What books have you listened to?

Isn't it harder to have someone read those type of books to you? Just curious. Learning stuff is one of those things I have to look at myself in black and white. I can listen to audio books for entertainment but I'm not sure I could do it to learn things.

Yes, I love audio books, especially while driving. I think a person has to train themselves to listen. Sometimes I would find my mind wandering but the nice thing about audiobooks is you can go back to where you quit listening and listen again.

No, I never tried listening to audio books and have no clue what that is like or about. Do you have any recommendations and where can you find audio books? Borders or Barnes and Noble?

I get a lot of mine on paperbackswap.com as I trade a lot of books (usually regular paperback or hard cover) and get enough points to order the books on tape for free. They can be expensive. Your local library will usually carry them. Any book store has them. And you can also order and download them online at various sites for a reasonable amount.

I like audio books than ones I have to read because it made feel sleepy reading nowadays. I like language audio books. I can easily remember something when I hear it.

My mom gets audio books from the libray for whenever she travels. I listen to them with her if we are going some place together. I own "The Book of Secrets" by Deepak Chopra and "The Elegant Universe" by Brian Greene. I can't listen to those two in the car because they make me fall asleep for some reason.

I never have, but, I hear they're really great. I commute about 2 hours a day total, and this would be a great way to make the time go by. Good idea.

I can't just listen to a book like that, my mind wanders. I will not hear it or pay attention. If I try to do it at home, I end up getting up to clean or something and completely miss listening to it.

I'm listening to almost all audio books I can get my hands on, and there are many :-) - I'm running my own audio books store (see my profile for the URL) and as I want to know how the audio books are, I am listening at least 3 to 4 hours every day. Walking the dog is a good time for me, working out, too. And sometimes just relaxing is fine as well.

Its really great to listen to audiobooks, and I actually feel that is helps you pay attention better. You have to listen intently at everything being said, so as you get use to hearing the stories.. you are actually training yourself to better pay attention. Plus, you finish stories much faster. Well at least thats the case in my personal experience...

Yes.., I enjoy listening to a good book especially if the narrator can make every character sound different. Harry Potter for example.., Jim Daly is the narrator and does an unbelievably wonderful job.

I love listening to all types of audiobooks. The last book I listened to was "The Great Influenza". A fascinating 19 CD long read about the 1918 pandemic.
