Our school district starts with a W. I remember as a child having to wait all through the listings to see if we were closed or not. They always waited until the last possible minute to call it though. That hasn't changed, my niece and nephew go to school in the same district, and it's always the last minute that schools are called.
My niece (she's 9) has stated that she doesn't want schools to close any more because she doesn't want her summer taken away.

It used to be that we didn't have our summers taken away even when there were snow days!

@petatonicsca I think around two years before I graduated, Saturday school was implemented. You went to school on Saturday to make up the days you missed. They still do that now but it's not a very big thing with the kids OR the teachers.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Our school now has "virtual school" if we miss more than two days. It's really hard to come up with virtual music lessons for kindergarteners.

I'm going to Chicago this weekend, and the forecast looks like a yo-yo: snow, then "pleasant." This time of year I have to pack for five seasons: Spring, summer, autumn, winter, and "holy cow it's cold!".

Most people seem to think that spring is just around the corner. I wonder who will turn out to be right?
