Customers are not equal, and customers are not always right. When you are a regular customer of a shop, the shop owner and her staff will give you better service. When they receive samples from the manufacturers, they will keep some for you. You do not have to request for it. When you are a regular customer, you are more valuable than those who frequent the shop once a year. When it comes to online service, it is the same concept. Many airlines have frequent flyer programs. They can use the programs to track your travel habit. You can book the air tickets online, and the system will capture your data, and upgrade your membership. When you are a gold member, you are treated differently. All businesses treat 20% of their customers who bring in 80% of the sales much better than the rest.
