It's 11:22pm here. I napped too long earlier so I can't fall asleep. I am really nervous about tomorrow. My son has 4 cavities that need to be fixed. They are between his teeth from not flossing. He can't have anything to eat or drink after 8am. We have to be at the dentist at noon where they will give him a pill to sedate him. After an hour they will do the dental work. I am very nervous. This dental office I heard won't allow parents in the room with their children. There is no way I will let them take my son who will be terrified without me. I will refuse to allow them to do the work and leave if they won't allow me with him. It has been windy, cold and snowy. I am nervous to drive the hour away to this appointment.

I am wondering why they wont allow the parent in with them. I would assume this would make it worse or possibly better behaviour.

They would not do his teeth with my in the room and my son was scared without me. I left and told them I would find somewhere else to have his teeth done that I can go in with him so he won't have to be scared without me. I called a new office that I got recommendation from three people. They sound wonderful there. His appointment will be March 16.

My son was scared and would not go with them without me so I wound up telling them that I would go somewhere else that would allow me to be with him. Now if all parents refused to let them do work on their children who were scared like that and went somewhere else maybe they would change their policy. I did call on Monday and found another dentist to take him to. 3 people recommended this place to me on facebook. I think my son will be in good hands at this new office.

He will be awake during the procedure right? If he is - I don't see any reason why you cannot be in there with him. I know when I was getting my wisdom teeth removed (surgically) - my mom wasn't allowed otherwise she would love to look! But during all my regular appointments especially since your son is under the age of 18? parent(s) have consent to go with the child. I hope you will be able to go in and watch the procedure/be there with him encase he needs calming. I hope all goes well.

I am not sure what their reason is why they do not allow parents in the room with the children.. even for a cleaning. The girl I talked to she did not speak English well enough for me to even understand what she was telling me the reason was. Even the receptionist I could not understand when I called either. I feel that is bad in a doctors office to have people working who speak so poorly.
