That 'new car smell' in the kitchen...

No, we didn't buy a new car, at least not for another year or two. But we did buy that new Samsung fridge and it was delivered and installed a few days ago. It was quite a production - the old fridge had to be taken apart (doors off, drawer out) in order for it to fit through the kitchen door. Although the salesman told us we didn't have to empty the freezer drawer, we found out differently. We unloaded it and the 'old' fridge was moved to the garage, put back together and the frozen food loaded into it. The new fridge came already apart and it took about 45 minutes to put it all together. Then we had to wait a few hours for it to reach temperature and put the food in it. So far so good, it is quiet and for the first time in almost three years I have crushed ice. Oh, the old one shot ice out across the room almost every time I used it, this one doesn't. It's quite a bit large as the old one was 25 cubic feet and this one is over 28 cubic feet. It is set up differently so it's take a little time to get adjusted. We are happy with it but we did take out an extended 3-year warranty - just in case. Photo is mine

what a beautiful frig! We need a new one, we barely made it through the summer when they have to work so much harder (no A/C and 100 degree temps) I am betting we will need to buy one this year. Enjoy

@AbbyGreenhill yes, makes the refrigerator work really hard. we ended up running a fan on the frig all summer to keep everything cool enough inside it

Lovely fridge. My parents just purchased a new fridge a few months ago. A whirlpool stainless steel one. They too bought an extended warranty just encase.

@AbbyGreenhill Most definitely and whoever buys a brand new fridge would want their fridge to last much longer than 1 year (which is the standard warranty)

@infatuatedbby We got the 3-year and they do sell 5-year.

After some of the horror stores you read extended warranties are a good thing.

Good idea to ask for an extended warranty, I always do, it does not cost a lot, but a few times it was more than useful.

@AbbyGreenhill The spoiled food is covered by our house insurance, no matter if the refrigerator is still under warranty or not.

We figured it was cheap enough to get the warranty. Plus the warranty pays for an soiled food if the fridge stops working.

This our third home with ice/water on the door and the fridge we had didn't offer crushed ice and that's the kind of ice I like best..more cooling surface! The previous fridge shot the ice across the room, this one doesn't.

@AbbyGreenhill When we built our motor-home we had to put the shower cabinet in early in the piece before the windows. There was no way we were going to get it through the door.

Thank you, if the old one works she should keep it a while longer.

That's a nice fridge. Do you like having the freezer on the bottom? Ours is on the top, it's what we're use to. Smart to get the extended warranty, we usually will on a big purchase like that. Have a blessed day

The last fridge had bottom freezer and it took about 2 weeks to get used to it, but now I love it - I am in the freezer much less than the fridge. My husband isn't usually big on buying the extended warranty but this was only $90 for three years so we went for it.
