Are you interested in the Orient Express?

Tonight I watched a documentary about the Orient Express from London to Venice. It spends about 36 hours and it costs 2000 pounds for one trip and 3500 pounds for round trip. Of course it is a very luxury train and you can enjoy fancy food in the journey. But I still think it is still rather expensive. I prefer to have a travel by the cruise and it is also very luxury and comfortable. Perhaps it will not be so expensive anyway.

I think it is very romantic and if I was very wealthy I would love to do it.

If I have to pay for 2000 pounds for one journey, at least I hope this train can last for longer time. 36 hours seems to be short

Thank you for sharing this. I don't think I will take the train, as it's too expensive. I even wonder if I will have a chance to visit London or Venice, though these two places are in my favorite list. I'd enjoy a more comfortable trip, but not too expensive.

@youless It's good to hear that the flight tickets are not very expensive. I think it's very expensive for us, I am not sure, as I haven't been checking it out for years. Hope you'll be traveling there one day, or perhaps experience the Orient Express too!

@kaka135 If it is not summer vacation or some important festivals, then flights are not very expensive. The price can be really amazing.

If I will travel to UK and Italy, I need to apply for two visas. One is for UK and the other is for EU. The flight tickets are not very expensive as I checked it, but applying for the visa is complicated since I have to hand in many documents.

It would be quite a journey. No cruise for me. Can't handle the water.

If so, I prefer to take the VIP ticket to have a flight than train.

Yes, usually it is for rich people and especially for the elders. As the young rich persons may not enjoy this kind of slow ride.

I know this train passes Switzerland. Perhaps it is less expensive for you to get on the Switzerland station and then arrive in either London or Venice because it is not the whole journey anyway

@youless Yes, here in Switzerland it stops at Innsbruck. It's not only the cost of the ticket, you have to buy also clothes that are appropriate for a such beautiful train.

In some point, we need to be practical in life. Squandering money with such transportation is not worth it.

I have ridden the normal trains and high speed trains many times in my country. So such kind of fancy train is not so attractive for me.

It would be an interesting experience if I could afford it. I saw a TV special with David Suchet (TV's Hercule Poirot) making the trip. Remember Agatha Christie's book Murder on the Orient Express.
