"Sometimes you need to feel pain to have a firm grasp of reality because life is not just about one's happiness but sometimes it's also about one's pain." - cutelilbastart Disclaimer: I wrote this for a friend before. This is just one of my random philosophies in life

But what if we do not WANT to have a firm grasp of reality?

@hexeduser22 I am glad that you said that, because if you didn't, then I was just going to have to ignore your suggestion and go do what I liked anyway.

Without pain there is no joy, and without joy there is no pain...right? It is a comparative index...what if I refuse both? :)

@vandana7 It is possible, yes, but somehow I can't imagine being in that state... having to feel nothing.. no pain nor happiness.. that's just sad..

Yes, I agree... If you can refuse both pain and happiness then things will look and feel unreal

I think pain and happiness are just natural, so we have to learn to accept them. I agree that if we have not feel the pain, we might not appreciate the taste of the happiness.

We all have to suck it up when we are in pain and we all need to make the most out of it when we are happy

I had so much grasp of reality now because my life is full of pain. Emotional pain, Spiritual pain and even literal pain but those things never pull me down. I am fighting to reach my dreams.

Yes, this is so true. If you never feel the pain, you cannot appreciate the happy moments of life.

I agree with you on this, Anna. Of course, we do not want the pain, but I don't think that we would be able to truly appreciate the happiness and good times if we did not have pain and sadness as well. Life is a balance, and hopefully the good things balance out the bad.

Some people think happiness is the only thing that matters...remembering how one overcame the pain makes the happy moment more fulfilling

@purplealabaster I also do not like pain and sad moments, but I realize how much more I appreciate the little things of life when I just come out from a difficult moment.

You are absolutely correct. Pain makes us stronger and more sympathetic.

I don't know much about some one's pain because they never shared it with me. I was never the type of person people like to share their secrets to.

I think this is quite true. If you live an easy life you miss out on some things I think.

yes, you do really miss out on some things because without pain everything would look easy and not worth it... until such time that you don't get to feel the excitement anymore of doing something new
