Orange And Yellow Together

My husband loves to garden. He got that from his dad. His dad would spend hours in the garden and always had beautiful flowers every spring and summer. I can remember my husband telling me how every Saturday in the spring and summer he would have to weed the flower beds for several hours before he would get to play. He hated it. But I guess he grew to love the flowers and we have always had flower beds, at both houses we have lived in since we have been together. One of the flowers he especially loves are Butterfly Bushes. That's what we call them around here but I have heard them called other things but the name escapes me. As I have said often I'm not to swift with flower names. We have had some problems growing them but last year he finally had success with one. I love the colors of this particular butterfly bush, but I do believe, but please don't quote me, there are other colors. Tiny tiny flowers and very hard to photograph because of the size of the individual flowers. I did my best. But they are very pretty. And the butterflies love them.

In the south we all have butterfly bushes. They are muted colors like pink, white, etc. but they look nothing like what is in your photo. I wish I had a photo of mine in bloom from last year. here is a link with photo of one

@fishtiger58 I've had them at all 4 homes in TN and they look like the photo in the link I provided. We've had all colors. The one I have now is pink.

@AbbyGreenhill I have never seen a butterfly bush like that one. Very pretty. Maybe they are just generally called butterfly bushes because they attract butterflies. Even though they are completely different.

I wish you did as well. Funny how things we call by the same names are so different.

We used to have a butterfly bush, it was beautiful. Ours had purple blooms on it. In 2012 we had a mild winter and it actually came out into bloom in February that year. It was never the same since then, and a couple of years later we took it out. I'd love another one, but not at this house, when we find our next place we'll put one in. They are beautiful. Here is my favorite in the garden, and it DOES attract both the hummingbirds as well as the butterflies.

I haven't seen hummingbirds at mine but that would so make my day. Maybe eventually the hummingbirds will find mine.

@fishtiger58 I was going to say that I plant tagetes every year because most of them are bi-colored, then I checked and I see that the tagetes and the marigolds are the same flowers.

@LadyDuck I have never heard them called that before, where I buy my flowers for the garden, they have tons of marigold, of course the yellow and orange, but also a sort of reddish brown color. I will have to see if I have some shots of those colors, I'm sure I do somewhere.

I wonder why they call them bufferfly bushes when to me they do not look like butterflies? The colors are beautiful.

They surely are pretty, the colors that the flower add to our surrounding cannot be ignored and all the more colors are added when butterflies come to kiss them.

Those are very pretty. I never heard of them before, nor any of the ones that other people posted photos of. I am sort of a person of plain tastes when it comes to flowers. Wildflowers will do me if nothing else will grow.
