Random Word Post – wolfberry

I find a random word by flipping through my 2003 The New Webster’s Concise Dictionary and write a quick – often silly – little post about it. # “wolfberry – A shrub of the honeysuckle family, with pinkish, bell-shaped flowers and spikes of white berries.” How did it get that name? Long ago did someone find a bush and say, “Hey Bob, what kind of berries are these?” Bob takes a look and goes, “I’m not sure. Let me look-” but then he spies a wolf creeping in the bushes and cries, “Wolf!” While Bob is running for his life, the first guy goes, “Wolfberries? That’s an odd name.”
