Writing seminar tomorrow with Ophra's first book club pick author

A woman named Jaquelyn Mitchard wrote "The Deep End of the Ocean" in 1996. Oprah Winfrey read it and loved it. She chose it for her first fiction selection for her book club. It ended up selling four million copies and was translated into thirty languages. It was also made into a movie in 1999. There is much more to this author's story and she tells it in an entertaining way too. We heard her speak tonight and will attend a seminar tomorrow where she will be one of several presenters. I will be able to tell more about it soon. Did you read "The Deep End of the Ocean"? A little boy vanishes in a hotel lobby and is found nine years later, living in the same city. Now I want to see the movie.

No, I did not read the book or see the movie. Don't you miss Oprah's Book Club? I bet the publishing industry sure does.

I did not know that it was no more. Jacqueline is scheduled to be on the show again in a week or so. She is a relaxed and fabulous speaker as well as a fine writer. We were able to buy and have signed a copy of her latest book "Two If by Sea" to be released very soon.

I see now that the book club is online only with FB and O magazine. That will still sell some books, I think.

@JamesHxstatic Ah, I don't follow her there. I guess that will work, but it was so much more fun when she was on TV.

Was there a movie made from that as it seems I saw a movie where a little boy vanishes and is found some years later in the same city he was last seen in.

now I want to read the book! I'll have to suggest it for my book club. (of course, I could read it anyway, but it sounds like a good book club book)

She made the seminar worth the money, spoke first thing and was last speaker as well, very entertaining. Her newest book is "Two If By Sea, " about the aftermath of a deadly Tsunami in Brisbane. I think you would like it a lot too, from what I read on the cover.

I know a different story that has also happened . I did some research on it and got into an entire web of dirty old men and all manner of things. This story does sound intriguing.
