Plagiarist!! You suck..... :/

So, I had been thinking of this. I read @JolietJake 's post and found that some lotters who had been here for a while are plagiarizing contents. That is so wrong. And it is even more upsetting that they have managed to slip this long. Plagiarizing in any shape or form is not acceptable. I thought about it and my mind conjured up some ways to deal with it. Keep in mind I am just sharing my thoughts on that and I am not asking any one of you to follow it. It is a discussion. So, we are going to discuss it and hopefully find a solution to deal with people who steal other people's contents. Here is what I came up with: 1. Formal warning: Give the the person concerned a warning about the contents and ask him/her to remove the content. Also report it. Remind him/her of the guidelines. Then spread a chain message around through your followers in the pm. Everyone needs to be aware of that person. 2. Throw the book: If the person had done the same thing twice. Take a more strict approach this time. Give the last warning. Remember not to be rude. Again spread this through chain message system to others. 3. Three times is NOT a charm: If that person still hasn't learned the lesson, then it is time for us to take a united stand. Lets put the "BLOCK" feature to good use. Ask and encourage your followers to block that person. Stop visiting their posts. Let's see what you lovely lotters come up with. I hope that we find a way soon and implement it. MyLot's admins have been doing their best to provide us with more helpful features. They even developed a new site. It is our duty to keep myLot clean and friendly devoid of all spammers, scammers and plagiarized contents. Let's take a step in that direction. There is one very simple (and recommended) way of dealing with plagiarism. That is to report it. It is the Admin's job to deal with a plagiarist; it is not for the members to conduct a hate campaign. It does help the Admin's job if you happen to know the URL of the site from which it has been copied, so putting the URL in a response is a good idea. You might also (politely) point out the rules to the offender. Most people copy and paste something because they believe that 'sharing' something is allowed. After all, they see identical news reports on many sites and they see stuff copied and pasted on Facebook and they really don't know any better. There are, of course, a few who do it knowing that it is wrong and hoping that they will get away with it. Admin will delete those pretty quickly, once it is clear that is the case.

@avi256 As long as it is your original content and you wrote it yourself. I also sometimes compose my posts on typing it out in Word and save it. They are my own works. I find it easy that way.

I hope it is fine if we write something on notepad and then copy it to comment section here.

I've had my stuff plagiarised several times, and they are the lowest of the low who do these things. However, in all cases reporting them was enough to get rid of them. Your plan might work if the posts remain for more than a couple of days. However we must be careful - I reported someone for plagiarising on Bubblews, and it turned out that it was their own work, done under another name on another site.

I am lucky. I know broken English. Nobody would try to copy that.

@vandana7 It isn't broken like you portray. You have a good grasp of vocabulary and have good posts to discuss about. They can very well be stolen. Just a slight manipulation of word sequence and they are plagiarized.

Plagiarism is tantamount to stealing so its good we have the intiative to warn them what theyre doing.

This needs to go. People spend so much time and thoughts compiling their posts and they just come and steal it away. Not done.

Warning after reporting. Like I would directly mention in the comment that I have reported your content because it is plagiarized rather than PM. Then go on to explain what is plagiarizing.

@vandana7 Some don't just warn. They get mean in their comment while warning. THAT is also wrong.

WOW! who are these people? they are putting people like me to shame since it literally takes forever to make a post. I wouldn't warn them. i made the same mistake with my first account, there was just one warning but i didn't listen. people won't so just report them.

Yes it is troublesome for people who have difficulty composing posts. Reporting is always the first step. But there are some who manage to slip through.... what about those?

Plagiarists know very well that this is wrong and they do not care. I do not even warn them, when I see a plagiarized content I report and sometimes I even leave a personal message to Alex. For the moment I have not reported people plagiarizing images. Some are so dumb to post images with the logo of Shutterstock. There are zillions of free images on the web, I wonder why to choose copyright photos.

@Daljinder I have not checked if it is a Public Domain Image, but when it is not specified it usually better not to use them.

I am afraid I am one of the guilty in using such images. It was due to confusion in understanding the T&C. But another lotter here informed me of that thankfully. Now I am using only pixabay and unsplash images. Well except the one I posted here but I included the link also. I hope that doesn't pose any problems.

I've dealt with thousands of cheats on sites like this and Bubblews and I really DON'T recommend the approach of telling everybody and campaigning to get them to stop reading people. That's a very quick route to looking like you're seriously unhinged and obsessed. REPORT REPORT AND REPORT again - and if you want to help the rest of us to know you've reported, just add the word 'reported' to the tags.

Don't I agree with that...if we try to go soft, they get enough time to develop a clout.

Report is ALWAYS the first approach. I wrote to report them in my very first point. It is just a thought not a campaign. That tag thing is a good idea.... Also don't quite get the unhinged and obsessed thing..... There are many who would like to know of such people who plagiarize contents. Making everyone aware is only so that we could ignore that person like we do rude people.

I disagree...report, and be done with it.. By the way, who gave you rights to offer my sucking rights to plagiarists?

I am thinking about "after" this very step. Because as JJ said there are old lotters who are posting plagiarized content and still manage to stay in the safe zone.

Personally i think a plagiarist should be banned from the site. I flagged two yesterday. They are a waste of time. They need to go and not be allowed back to continue stealing from the internet.

I have nothing to add to that. I think your way of dealing it is perfect. The photo you picked is nice. I sat and looked at it for awhile lol Just love rain. Apparently we are getting rain tomorrow. I really hope so. Anyway that is not the topic lol I do agree that letting other MyLotters know is a great idea. I wouldn't say it's a way of "Ganging up" on the person but just letting people be aware of it.

@Daljinder You're very welcome. I cannot tell you the last time we had some good hail. Nowadays they are like little ice chips. I guess the benefit of that though, is no damage on cars.

@VivaLaDani13 Thank you We had lots of hail the whole night. It was loud. Just got back cleaning up outside. But it's good that temperature had gone down a little.
