What a busy week.

Hi to you all. I have dropped by occasionally this week as I have been really busy at work and not getting home until well into the evening for most of the week. By time i have had a natter, helped prepare dinner it is nearly time to go to bed and it all starting again the next morning. One day this week I had some teaching sessions to do so I had a mini lay in which was well deserved. I did not have to get up until around half past six on that particular day. Well it is the weekend and one thing I noticed not just yesterday but the week before. It seems that people are really quite happy on a Friday at work. I wonder if it is something to do with the anticipation of being off for the weekend. Later this afternoon I will be off to visit my family in Dover. It is my eldest brothers sixtieth birthday and we are going to a celebration this evening. I have not been to Dover for quite some time. If the weather had been a bit nicer I would have gone early and spent some time there. I will be staying with my sister tonight and I will pick my younger brother up on the way to the 'do'. It will be fun as we have not all been together for quite some time. I guess it will be a good time for a catch up. Tomorrow is mothering Sunday so I will visit my mothers grave just to say hi. It is a sad day for those of us who no longer have our mothers around and even after all the years that she has gone we all miss her terribly. I guess she played such a pivotal role in our lives. So for all you mothers out there. Happy Mothers day for tomorrow. I know that it is celebrated at different times of the year in some countries but for us here in the UK it is tomorrow. The photo is of our family parish church in Dover. It is called St. Mary's church. It is a Saxon/Norman church and over 900 years old. My father was christened here as well as all of us kids. We were also married here too. My mother is buried here in the graveyard.

I am envious of all of your lovely architecture. We have no old or historic buildings in SoCal (people say we do, but they lie).

We are indeed very lucky. I love to look around these old buildings. Imagine they did not have power tools when they made these places and yet they are still standing! No fancy architects etc. In fact these buildings will still be standing when modern ones will have tumbled!

@garymarsh6 Which is why we have no lovely old ones. They are made to be temporary and they are.

Mother's Day here is in May. I'd like to go visit where I put her ashes but probably won't be able to. That is a beautiful church.

I really hope that the Rand/Pound gets a little better in the next year or two, otherwise the closest i will ever get to seeing this is in your posts and photographs. Strange that the UK has mothering Sunday without the rest of the world?

@garymarsh6 - we dont do much on those days with regards to gifts - rather just nice lunches or tea spent together.
