I have heard that Facebook knows when its users are asleep or awake. It seems that Facebook keeps specific logs of the last time that every person was active. It shows that information within conversations, showing a little note indicating that you were active. Why this information is important I don't know do you have an idea why they would want to know this? Is this an invasion of our privacy?

@Marcyaz Every so often I have to go back in and return things off, it's like FB just randomly decides to redo them

I cannot think of any possible use for such information. In my case my visits are so sparse that it would make little difference anyway.

@Asylum I can't think of any reason either but since I am never on there long it makes no difference.

@Marcyaz ...I can think of several. Perhaps they like to keep track of how much activity takes place when. Maybe they want to keep track of the popularity of certain games and when said games are played. Maybe they want to know what age group plays them and when. Or when people visit certain parts of the site. Etc.

Sounds like what they say the president can do. It sounds like it is a part of their algorithm and just helps them supply data. It's only an invasion of our privacy if it does so. Don't sound like it does. It just gathers data about activity on the site.

Well, if Facebook knows when I am awake or asleep, they don't do a very good job of monitoring it. I get random messages late at night from people through Messenger, and it always wakes me up! Dear Facebook: if you know when I'm sleeping, hold my messages until the morning when I wake up!

@moffittjc Yeah I know what you mean by someone sending a message that wakes you up. Tell them to hold them !!!

I didn't know that. Mine must be all confused because my sleeping habits are al over the place so good luck trying to work out when I am asleep and awake muahahaha! I don't like any type of invasion of privacy. I mean, knowing whether I am awake or asleep isn't a big deal but it's just adding onto the long list of how much privacy is invaded already.

@VivaLaDani13 I don;t think it knows about our sleeping habits or when we are awake or asleep. It just shows the time whenever you open your facebook even if it was for a minute. It logs in the activity.

I personally like it, because I can keep tabs on those people who I chat with the most. The main person I like to keep tabs on is my College age son. I like knowing when he has been on Facebook.

I'm only on for a few minutes a couple of times a day, i really don't care if someone knows I'm on or not. I am not public, i have only good friends and relatives who see my pages.

Maybe it's their way to keep track when more people are on there, probably so they can post adds and charge more for busier times...who knows?

I don't know why they find it necessary, but no, it's not an invasion of privacy as anyone can see when you were on last. Me, it's been days, if not weeks since I was there last.

It is probably an invasion of privacy but also very legal and one that you opted in for when you signed up.. Just the times we live in. That is why you have to be very careful with sites like Facebook.

It doesn't bother me for them to know when I am logged on. I do not find it to be invasion of privacy.
