Super Annoyed

I just was writing a post about being totally annoyed about how my posts have been disappearing while writing them for the last three days. It happened again this morning and I cannot believe it! I'm sad no one is going to read my very cleverly written amusing story about what happened this morning because I just can't write it all over again. The spontaneity is gone. So I wrote a short post about how totally annoyed I was and lost that one as well. As you can see I'm super annoyed. It only happens on this site, it never happens while writing my blog or emails or Facebook or anywhere else. The post just vanishes. Has this happened to anyone else? I was sure it was my computer keyboard before but upon reflection I realized it only happens here. That's why I am now "Super Annoyed".

This only happened to me a couple of times, which was a very long time ago. Since then I began composing discussions in Microsoft Word then copying and pasting them into Mylot. Of the discussion fails to go through I still have the whole thing to resubmit, which solves the problem.

I used to do that on another site and I had forgotten. But until today I thought it was my fault or my keyboard's fault because this is a new laptop that I just began to use around Christmas. So now that I have a great solution I will post again.

@Asylum No, it happens while typing the post. I had no idea what combination of keys I might be hitting accidentally that was causing this. Now upon reflection I realized it only happens here and today proved it happens to others as well. I often hit the wrong key with this keyboard because it's arranged slightly differently and the size of the keys is different.

@Asylum It would be hard to select control and A at the same time but I bet I could do it and not realize it.

For me it has only happened since the new myLot format. I really don't like it at all.

@Jeanniemaries Best thing is to take a quick copy before you push the button to submit.

I've only been here about that long. On the second or third day they unrolled the new format and I had to figure out the switch. I do love it here though. It's easy to navigate and everyone is so nice as always!

I tried writing a post the other day as well, and it didn't go through. I tried twice, and it failed both times. Hopefully it gets fixed soon.

In some ways I'm glad I'm not the only one but then again I really am glad it doesn't happen to everyone.

I never type my posts directly, I always type them in a text editor and I also save them on my computer. This is safer.

@Jeanniemaries I always typed my texts with an editor, this is why I have all my old posts from Bubblews. It would have been a shame to lose more than 2,000 posts.

@LadyDuck That was really smart. I'm going to start doing the same.

You are brilliant! I did that on another site long ago and far away...I had forgotten but that's what I'm going to do!

It has happened to me but only when I go to post. Often it seems to be the site going weird and I can sometimes tell it's going to happen so when I've typed it in the response box I copy it so if it disappears I just go back and paste it. Much easier to do now that there is no c&p restriction.

Yes, I was in the process of copying it when I lost it.....this time. I thought...ohhh I'll copy it occasionally as I write it and problem solved. That was short lived! Haha. I'm all over being annoyed and just happy to be reminded of a solution I used on another site. Write it in a Word program and copy and paste it to this site. If you lose it, you can still paste again! Actually I'm now annoyed at myself for not remembering that.....

It only happened to me while I used it through my IPhone. I usually use Word for composing posts...

It has not happened to me but then again, I rarely post a discussion... I can imagine how super annoyed you are.

I am not sure. But I had read some posts that it was being deleted in this site. I am not sure what's the reason behind, others claimed it violates the standard rules in myLot.

Oh, not deleted after being published, just vanishing while writing them.

That has not happened to me. You might cut and paste and save your discussion and than go out and sign back on again and redo it.

I think JJ hit the nail on the head, just write it elsewhere and copy and paste it to publish.

In my case, whenever I try to attach a heavy picture. But I always copy my post so I can just paste it again in case it happens.

I have read about other members losing posts too. It hasn't happened lately to me.

I'm glad it doesn't happen to everyone, but enough people have mentioned it happens to others that I am pretty sure it's the site, not me.

Weird! Do you copy it first in your Notepad?

I can't find the stinkin' notepad on this laptop since my son in law put Windows 10 or (maybe 9?) on it. I'm not even sure where Word is. Everything is harder than it used to be. I'm not good with change. I learn to do what I need to learn and I don't explore much. A hold over from the days when I could really make hash of the family computer and I was implored not to mess around too much! Old habits die hard! That was back in the 80's!

Yes, but I got smart and copied my posts and then reposted. I do it automatically now, just in case. They're never the same if I rewrite them. Very annoying, indeed!

I wonder what could be the reason why your discussions are disappearing. I have not lost a discussion yet.

I only ever write on Word then copy and paste. I'd never remember what I wrote six months ago otherwise.

You must be super duper annoyed that we are able to read and interact with this post while the more interesting ones that you have written have just vanished!
