Pastor Shot

On Sunday, March 6th, around two in the afternoon a pastor was shot in the back three to four times as he walked from the church to his car. This happened in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. I live about a twenty minute drive from Coeur d’Alene in the state of Washington. Some speculation for the shooting was thought to be that Pastor Tim Remington had given the prayer at a Ted Cruz rally in Coeur d’Alene at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds the day before. At last report Pastor Tim Remington was stable in the Kootenai County Hospital after being operated on. It is not known if the pastor was shot due to his affiliation to Ted Cruz. Pastor Remington was known for helping the homeless and drug addicts. The Police are now looking for Kyle Andrew Odom who is believed to be the shooter. The members of the church are not only praying for Pastor Remington but also the shooter. They say in order for someone to shoot a pastor there must be something terribly wrong in that person’s life. It’s crazy. Odom, the suspected shooter, may not have liked Ted Cruz but shooting the pastor who gave the prayer at the rally isn’t going to stop Cruz. However, it is not known if that was the reason behind the shooting. The pastor had been preaching at the church for at least a decade. It is thought that after all that time with no problems, then the day after the rally the pastor is shot, then the rally had something to do with the reasoning behind the shooting. The real reason will not be known until the shooter is caught.

No matter why it happened, still very sad. I hope he recovers!

The news has been reporting conflicting news. One station reported he could be out of the hospital in a matter of days while another station has reported, while the doctors say he should survive, he is not responding to anyone. I didn't know this until last night but they are now saying he was also shot in the head. Witnesses are saying they heard six shots. The police aren't saying how many times he was shot.

@jahunt The doctors seem to think he will make it. They say he may not be able to use one of his arms because he was shot in the shoulder three times.

@RichardMeister - The pastor's association with Ted Cruz seems like a very strange motive, but logic rarely has anything to do with incidents like this. I see that Odom was a marine for several years. For a while now I've been noting how many random killers have had military training or experience. I'd like to see research done into this, but it's something no-one seems keen to talk about.

That's an interesting observation. I knew some had military training or experience but not that many.

That is sad, and I hope they catch the person responsible.

The last I heard the shooter went to Spokane then headed south. That's when they lost him. I guess they traced his car using street cameras.

That's just crazy. All these shootings everywhere make no sense to me. I just read that they caught that Odom guy but still do not know what his motive was - but he did have a history of mental illness. I think it's interesting they find that many of these shooters have some sort of mental illness. It seems that the pastor is recovering - I hope he gains full recovery soon!

The guy claimed the pastor was a Martian. He also claimed the associate pastor was a Martian as well. He originally had planned to shoot both. He claims he shot the pastor 12 times and the fact that it didn't kill the pastor proved the pastor was a Martian. Witnesses said they heard 6 shots. Odom planned to kill some Congressmen as well claiming they too were Martians. He got caught in Washington D.C. when he threw some items over the White House fence. As far as the pastor the news said he was alert and talking. The associate pastor joked, after Odom was caught, that he had been called worst things than a Martian.

@RichardMeister A Martian? I sure didn't read that part. Well why would he want to kill Martians - just what did he have against Martians? From the looks of things, it seems that Odom guy is the one was in outer space!

@much2say He claimed Martians captured him and ruined his life. (Play the Twilight Zone music here.)
