Wind Upsetting Then I Reasoned Why

i have had an uneasy feeling a lot of the day due to the strong gusty wind and wondered why. Then I remembered. Whe n I was a kid I lived in South Dakota in an area know n as Tornado Alley. Strong winds on the prairie made us look to the horizons so we could see if here were these dancing devils of destruction. They always missed our farm but we saw three in a row a huge one, a smaller one and one very small one. My mom said daddy tornado , mama tornado and child tornado. They instead ripped through Spearfish South Dakota destroying everything in their path/Baby buggy up in tree, straws driven into poles deep. a house set square on a barn foundation most homes completely destroyed. Back then strong winds were to be feared. Now I do knowIm being sillyas tornadoes seldom have occurred here in our area. So now to be more reasonable and get to doing those 128 notifications.

I was in one tornado when I lived in Iowa. The clouds there fascinated me. When we have strong winds here in CA, I just go "eh."

there is a certain smell, and feel in the air, before a tornado, any now, any weather that reminds me of that has me loading up the go bag, dog leashes, purses, shoes and blankets in the one room in this place with no windows.

The last time we had strong gusty winds here in Oregon, was back in December, and it took a tree down in my yard. It has since been cut up and gone, and the only thing left is the stump. It was scary, as it could have fallen the wrong way, and landed on the neighbor's car, and thank goodness it fell the other way, and didn't hurt anything. I do hate strong winds a lot as I wouldn't want that happeining again.

@Hatley that is really strong winds for sure. We do have a lot of trees here that uproot, but not sure of anything else. It isn't normal to get a lot of high winds here, but it will happen from time to time.

Around here right now strong winds make people uneasy because of fire hazards. They had six fire departments out yesterday fighting a fire. Basically the firefighters saved the town.

o thas right I remember back before cam here we had a fire come down the tustin llss and almost set our apt co mplex on f i re. that was the o e when one hundred deer choked Newport ave snarling traffic for hours they fled that fire and their coats were singed and they were running out of controll. rangers had to tranquilize them put them in big trucks and take them into Northern calif forests where there was no fire.

I'm not a big fan of strong, gusty winds either but I've never lived in an area prone to tornadoes

that was what was nagging me remembering my childhood and the destruction I had seen first hand.
