Firing Up the Barbie

It's beautiful here today and hit the 70 degree F mark. My quandary about what to make for dinner is settled. We're going to have our first barbecue of the season. My son in law went to the store and bought some fresh ears of corn and some zucchini so we're going to grill veggies and some chicken. Not only am I looking forward to having our meal cooked outside but we decided to eat off paper plates and not have any worries about dishes and cleaning up the kitchen. Works for me

Sounds great. It's still to wet outside to do any grilling. We got to 67 today. I think summer is here, even though the calendar still says winter and will for at least a couple more weeks. I hope it all turned out good.

I just hope this beautiful weather isn't a fluke and that we don't go back to freezing cold again before winter heads out for good

@Marilynda1225 I hear you. Temps started falling once again. Right now it's 44 and going down. I haven't turned the heat back on.

Grilled chicken and vegetables sounds fine, but it is rather cruel to set fire to a poor innocent Barbie doll. Have they produced a new range of Witch Barbie?

The news is on now, and they said that we hit 71, how beautiful is that? Your dinner sounds good. I'm still fighting a chest infection, so I came home and warmed up some left over chili that we had last weekend. Hopefully I'll feel better one of these days so that I can get the grill started up for the year also.

@Marilynda1225 We're mild here too, but with not feeling well I'm not enjoying it. I need to get over this nasty bug.

We're having a few days of over 70 degrees and it's like spring has arrived. Hope it stays and that winter doesn't make another appearance. Hope you feel better and can get out and enjoy this beautiful weather

My hubby always barbecued in ant kind of weather, of tensing shoveling a path on the deck to the grill. Enjoy!

Your hubby is way more ambitious than me if he shovels to get to the grill

@Marilynda1225 Well, he used to be, but not anymore. No shoveling in FL!

That's sounds a great idea. Do you have a dish-washer? I wouldn't have one for years but I love ours now especially if we have extras for a meal. I don't run it every day.

Yes, I have a dishwasher and don't know how I lived without one for so many years when my children were growing up. Even with a dishwasher it's still nice to have an occasional night when all we do is toss some paper plates in the trash

@Marilynda1225 That's true. We have paper plates occasionally.

I thought about firing up the grill today, but the plan was for lasagna. I have made lasagna on the grill a few times. This is one way not to heat up the house when the weather is quite warm.

That sounds awesome! The zucchini especially; I've been dying for some zucchini, but it's way too expensive in our area. My family is really boring, LOL, we practically never have anything barbecued. It's a lot of work to get the charcoal grill going; probably it would be better if we had a gas or electric one.

My grill is propane gas so it's easy to just turn it on. I remember the day of having to get that charcoal going before you could grill anything. I love any type of veggie on the grill but zucchini is my favorite. It's expensive here too but I figure it's worth the little extra money for a healthy dinner

I am glad you have gotten there. Here in Canada any time the sun shines is a good time for the BBQ to be fired up, no matter how cold.

I know a lot of people bbq all year round but I can't see standing over the grill in the dark & cold. However, this beautiful weather certainly make me thing spring/summer

@Marilynda1225 Not in the dark, but a gas BBQ still gets nice and hot even in winter.

Lucky you, our temperature is 35 F right now, we have to wait several weeks before even thinking to eat outside.

It was very mild here today, and the sun did come out for awhile. Hope you enjoyed your barbecue. I don't blame you for using paper plates, saves doing dishes.

BBQ and paper dishes seem to go hand in hand. Easy peasy I say
