Sad memories watching tv today

As I sat watching the funeral of Nancy Reagan today, I couldn't help having flashbacks of my dads funeral. The procession of her riding in the coffin brought back so many memories that I have not thought about until today. When dad died, I had a military funeral for him as he was a medic in the army in World War II. We had taps being played and a 21 gun salute, the folding of the flag which was presented to me, which always gets me emotional no matter who the person was. I remember riding in the head car with a few family members and as we started to turn down the street where dads house was, (the house I grew up in), there were some people on the street corner that saluted my dad. I was so shocked, surprised, proud and sad all at the same time. We cannot control our emotions and sometimes do not think about them until something pops up in our lives that can bring them out.

Yes it is easy to be triggered in memories when we see such things. I am so sorry for the loss of your Father but also that this made you remember Nancy. You must have loved him very much. I miss my Dad too. He was a Merchant Marine.

Sooner or later we all have to face the passing of our loved ones. It is one of those things in le we all must experience. Sad but true.
