Failing miserably in my holiday hunt

t is a while since I took a holiday, but at the moment I am expecting an operation to occur almost anytime. This rather restricts my movements to a great extent, so I decided to try a short break instead. Since I was informed that the operation will take place on Wednesday, I chose to look online for a cheap 3 day trip starting tomorrow or Saturday. Usually I can find cheap offers in abundance on the internet, but so far all the available 3 day trips appear dearer than most 7 day holidays I can only assume that this is due to the flight scheduling, which tends to be directed towards week or fortnight holidays. I even considered t6he Channel Islands as an option, but the prices still exceed some one week holidays in Spain, Turkey or Greece. It looks like I will be stuck here in the rain for a while longer.

I am going to start planning our first camping fishing trip. We will probably drive around 400 miles to get to slightly warmer weather.

Right now I would be satisfied with anywhere just to get a change of scenery, but timing it at present is a real problem.

@fishtiger58 The annoying fact is that I could have taken a week's holiday last week because I never got a telephone call this Wednesday. Now the situation is the same, I could take a holiday for a week or 10 days and it may make no difference, but I cannot take the chance in case the appointment is next Wednesday.

@KristenH I can afford to go but cannot manage to find the available time, which is very frustrating.

@Asylum I know the feeling. I wish I can afford one and go on a holiday on my own.

It is annoying to a degree because holidays are usually readily available at realistic prices online.

May be you can take those 7 day tours but spend only 3 days

That cannot be done because the flights will be set 7 days apart.

@allknowing That would involve booking the trip comprising of flights and accommodation and then paying a further flight home, which would be much dearer.

@Asylum When I was on a package holiday in the US I broke from the group and had my own schedule worked out for my return after an extended stay in the US. May be you can cut short your trip. Nothing like finding out.

It is not something I particularly enjoy either and would love to escape from it for a short while.

@Asylum As long as I do not have to be someplace when it rains (I move appointments if rain shows up), I stay home. But I could get into my car in my attached garage and drive to the nearby mall, into their covered and attached parking structure and hang out there, if I became bored.

@ElizabethWallace That does rather defeat the object because you still be in a restricted and enclosed area.

I much prefer to go somewhere and do very little other than enjoy the change.

@Ronrybs These days that is too much effort for me, so I am content to stay wherever I travel to.

Have you not considered taking a break in England? I've seen some reasonable offers.

It seems a little pointless to stay in England at this time of year.

They are not exactly suitable for a 3 days break, which is what I was considering due to the time restrictions.

Never mind that will give you time to sprout more feathers and webbed feet so you are fully developed by time you get your next holiday!

It's a shame you can't find something suitable for a short holiday. So I gather your operation is next Wednesday?

When I wrote this post I did not have an appointment set, but since I was led to believe that it would be on a Wednesday I needed to be here then.
