Childhood Snack - Yan Yan Strawberry

United States
March 12, 2016 11:03pm CST
As a child, every Saturday was Family Grocery Shopping Day and since I was young at the time and couldn't stay home alone I had to go with my parents. I would look forward to buying snacks when I went grocery shopping. My parents always allowed me to get a few snacks and one of the snacks I would always get is this Yan Yan, a Japanese snack. It comes with a side of biscuits (cracker sticks) and the dip (strawberry, and I guess now the newer ones also have chocolate). There are a tons of flavors available but the most common are strawberry and/or chocolate. Do you remember your childhood snack? Do you often repurchase your childhood snack now? From time to time, I will reminisce and purchase my childhood snack ~ especially since they're sold at Target now and you don't have to go to the Asian market for them!

They're yummy! Slim jims were my guilty pleasure during middle school times. It was only 50 cents for a little piece at the student store, lol.

i usually buy that for my son; whenever I come home from work, I always brought food for him. It stopped when he graduated from college last 2009.

Ooo I used to have that it was my favorite childhood snack too. My other absolute favorite was Jack and Jill's nachos cheese corn chips. It used to cost only $0.20 for a small packet when I was a child! Today it's $1.20.

We had many type of snacks which I still like even now. Sugar candy - round sticky balls that would take long to eat as they would be sticky and dissolved slowly were one of them.

@infatuatedbby When I was young there were not many packaged products to buy. The malls and the supermarkets did not even exist.

Yup, one of my childhood snacks was exactly the one you described, though it came under a different brand name of a biscuit company. Another one was a type of tolled up pastries we used to find in local stores. Equally unhealthy and tasty! Ooh and there was little hearts.

Yes, I do remember of of my childhood snack, though my mom didn't really allow us to buy snacks, my brother secretly bought some and we secretly ate them at home without letting my mom know. I remember the snack you showed in the picture, though I think we have different brand. I prefer chocolate dip, as I am not fond of strawberry flavor.
