I find a random word by flipping through my 2003 The New Webster’s Concise Dictionary and write a quick – often silly – little post about it.
#
“costermonger – British, A street hawker of vegetables, fruits, etc.”
I’ve heard of fishmongers and warmongers before, as people who try to sell you fish, or wars. But what the hell is a coster? Or is that just some random British term that would make no sense to an American?

Same here. I have heard of fishmongers but not this other one. British term, huh? That makes sense. I wonder if our slang sounds as odd to them as theirs do to me some times?

I only know of rumormongers.
I've read there's also an ironmonger, one who sells hardware, metal tools, etc.
