Inexpensive breakfast to start the day
March 18, 2016 5:54am CST
What do you eat for breakfast? I normally start the day with either; cornflakes, porridge or toast. I live on a tight budget, and when I go shopping, I often look at the different cereals on sale. These cereals look lovely but they are all very expensive so I have to leave them on the shelf. After reading an article in a magazine , I am glad that I do go for the cheaper options. This is because, according to the magazine article, many of the more expensive cereals are full of sugar and other unhealthy ingredients, and others do not have the health benefits that they say they do.

We all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so we're going to eat in full diet. Our usual breakfast is rice, fish saute with vinegar or fried fish, fruits and milk or coffee and this is meal is not expensive.

@Cornin5 I don't do much grocery shopping myself my mom usually chooses the food and Bob drive me but is organic worth it as I bought some organic spinach in m eating last week when my Sister took me shopping I can';t get organic at the store Bob takes me! I love organic I once got bananas organic one of the best bananas I ever had. I will be buying my food now that my mom isn't eating the normal food she will be having sweets as we are to keep her happy, and she wants sweets. The hospice is about compassion, not aggressive treatment as I found out it is true my mom does have dementia. She is very frail and I have to keep sweets in her or anything so won't need another blood transfusion as she had her second one I two months when she was in the hospital. But if we pray she might live longer as she is very frail Hugs to you and Molly from me and my pet hamster Marty!

I think cornflakes are good, though I am always tempted to eat other types of cereals, but as you said, they are sweeter and might not be as healthy as cornflakes. I usually just drink a cup of hot chocolate, and a few slices of bread with margarine. If I am a little bit more hardworking, then I might make some sandwiches with tuna or egg mayo. If I am more hardworking, then I'll cook noodles. But, usually just bread will do.

I've been buying Chex fruit and nut cereal, but it's too sweet so I add some store brand plain whole wheat flakes. This cuts down on the sugar and it saves money also. Plus it makes it healthier with the added fiber. Other mornings I might eat oatmeal with raisins and walnuts or an egg with my homemade turkey sausage patties.
