I always turn on the TV when I lie down for a moment. Usually I see boring reruns but I relax and sometimes fall asleep. Not so today. I had the TV a channel that shows old movies and I had the pleasure of watching Modern Tomes with Charles Chaplin and Paulette Goddard. The movie belongs to the time of the silent movie. But the actors make up for the lack of words as they are also mimos and dancers. The plot is timeless: the problem of our times where men have lost their posibility of being happy. The first pictures shows it all: a herd of pigs goint to the market and then, immediatly, a lot of people getting out of the subway towards their job. I don´t think the movie is in Netflix, but I´m sure they have it in YouTube. I recomend it.

Charlie Chaplin certainly does still have the ability to entertain!

For me Chaplin does more than entertain. He makes us think of us as human beings. His movies are quite profound.

I Have seen The great dictator several times and I am always moved by it. I think that he was very brave to make the film at the time he did it. I hadn´t seen this one for many decades and it is still modern.

@marguicha Is it in Modern times,he sings and dances in a hotel even though he had lost the song he has written down?I still remember him singing with made up words.

@silvermist It is a bar and yes. That part is wonderful! And just as her finishes the song with applause and the owner will give him a job, the cops come to get the girl

I enjoy many kinds of movies. But I love best when movies are art.

Talkies had already taken over but Chaplin initially refused to do them so Modern Times is silent. This is considered one of his greatest efforts. He was married to Paulette Goddard,

Chaplin did not have to talk. His body language said all.
