I was scrolling through the Discussions with no answer section and I noticed there are discussions from the beginning of this month. What happens to posts that are never answered? Do they get deleted after a period of time, because if they are not, I should be able to see discussions from the previous month, previous year etc. Do you know, guys?

@TiarasOceanView Well, I see many people here for a long time, and I get a lot of information from their posts. It's good to have people to learn from. :)

No, they aren't deleted unless the user himself deletes his own discussion. Per Terms of Use Agreement, what the site deletes are those that violate the Guidelines or the Terms. A discussion without a response is not among those subject to deletion.

If a post sits around and doesn't get noticed perhaps the author could delete it and post it again or rewrite it a little and see if anyone responds?

@Lusye28 Yes, you could still find it here, unless the user himself deleted his own discussion.

Makes sense. If a discussion doesn't violate any terms people still should be able to find it through a search.

I have no idea what happens to the discussions that no one responds to. If they only have one line then most people will not respond .

I'm not sure about the length. I try not to be too short, but I don't like writing too long either. It depends on how much I have in mind.

I think they stay on here. I have found many on and off over the years. I try to answer them if possible to maybe bring some new life to the discussion and maybe encourage participation from someone who has long forgotten about this site.

It is a good thing to encourage them, I never looked at that this way. But I'm thinking if they turned off their email notifications, they will never know if they don't log in, right? MyLot is a great place anyway.

I wonder. I am sure they stay on here somewhere. I always try to hit up the no responses tabs and simetimes there are really great discussions in there! I wonder personally what happens to discussions that are not tagged. Like this one! Where do they go when they get old? Because you cannot search for them...

If they are not tagged I believe it has something to do with that Full-text Search option, but I'm not sure. Still figuring it out. ;)

What a great question! I never really thought about that. I don't know. I know that, in the time I spend here, I go around randomly reading and discussing, and just having fun. I don't get into every discussion because some just don't appeal to me.

I'm having a lot of fun, as well. It's just my curiosity from time to time, which makes me wonder about how things work. I don't participate in all discussions as well, but I do my best to be part of the ones, which I like.

I have not thought about it, but I don't think they are deleted.
