We just had our lunch. We had grilled fish (tilapia), fried eggplant, boiled okra, sliced tomatoes, and sauted fish sauce locally known as Bagoong. This is one thing I like when it comes to foods in the province. You get to enjoy yummy foods in just a reasonable price. Just finished a great lunch.

Fried eggplant sounda delicious. Did you make this all from scratch? If so, good for you! I have tried in the past to cook eggplant but never manage to get it to taste good the texture is always too spongey. Whats your secret? I was pretty proud - I went out for lunch today with a friend and only spent $12 on it. Sweet!

I eat egg plant with egg on it. I haven't ate okra for a while now, but I've ate some tomatoes in my soup yesterday. I still don't know how to cook fish.

Why not with the eggplants? Fried eggplants are the best.Yes, I agree with you. You don't need spoon and fork to eat them.

@MGjhaud How about experimenting on how it was cooked? Maybe it will change the way you think about eating eggplants.

Oh my ! Those are my favorite foods specially that okra and fried talong and the bagoong (though mine should have chopped Thai chili and lemon drops) . I eat with my bare hands when it's them on the table .

The bagoong actually has ginger, onions and garlic. It's definitely best to eat them with bare hands.

Even though I'm not accustomed to the food of the Philippines (with minimal exception, as I did have a Philippino friend), this looks delicious WITH the single exception of the okra. I can't stand okra. Though I've heard fried okra is good, I'm not game to try it. I once boiled the stuff. Tragic! I like it in small quantities in soup, though.

@psyedelicbworm Luckily here, there are people who will go house to house to sell the fish they caught. We don't necessarily have to go to the market.
