Disturbing thoughts

Let me start by saying that I write science fiction, so I often let my mind wander thinking about time travel, aliens, clones, fun stuff like that. Anyway, the other day I was thinking about what if evil aliens came to Earth and they wanted to show that they meant business. The first idea that I came up was that they would collect all the Presidents, Prime Ministers, etc. from every country and execute them in some horrible fashion. I almost rejected it immediately because that would only make martyrs of them and harden our resolve to defeat them. I say almost, because I started wondering if the aliens would have a method of execution so horrible that we would all fall in line. So I started wondering what the worst way to kill someone is. There would need to be some way to keep the victim alive and conscious as their body is slowly burned away, or something. I thought about this for a minute or two before asking, Why the hell am I thinking about this? I’d been in a rut for the past week or so, and thinking about stuff like this wasn’t helping.
