Back in December my parents bought two map games from a local craft fair. Each surrounds a theme (today's was a murder mystery) and they are small pamphlets with a series of clues that are solved by following the directions around a town and looking for the answers. The ones they bought are for two local towns, but you can get them for different towns in the uk. The one we followed was good fun, and we saw lots of things in the town we've never noticed before, we didn't find the murderer though as one of the clues was for a plaque on the wall which had been removed so my mum has emailed them to tell them and ask for the answer. It was a fun day though and I'm looking forward to the next one. The sundial was the first clue

what a beaut that most certainly is! sounds like great fun 'n a way to get folks to 'ppreciate more'f their surroundin's whilst havin' a grand time with family/'r friends. that would'a been most irritatin' to find that plaque removed. hopefully yer mum'll get'n answer quickly. big hugs!

It was great fun, and interesting. Hopefully she will get the missing clue, and they can fix their other maps

That sounds like fun, but clues shouldn't disappear like that!

The plaque that's vanished was a civic centre one so I can see why whoever designed it thought it would still be there, we only found out as after 10 minutes of searching a small street my mum asked in a cafe.

If they've made a series around the country it can't be easy to keep on top of all the things that might be moved, so well done for letting them know!

I thought that, and it was a plaque put up by the local civic society so you wouldn't expect someone to take it down.

Haven't seen a map game, though I've read them from books. I wish I could also find one.

That sounds like it would be a lot of fun. However, were these based on true historical events or made up?

The murder mystery was made up, but the answers were all based on real buildings or events,
