Pen Pals

How many of us had pen pals when we were kids. I'm 51 now and I recently thought about my old pen pals and wonder how they are doing now. I remember getting fancy stationery and writing long letters and awaiting a return letter sometime within the next month. I remember answering ads in the back of my grandmother's magazines. Free this and free that.... didnt matter to me what it was.. if it was free I sent away for it. LOL. I was a kid back then, maybe 10 or so. We didn't have any form of entertainment except ourselves and our chores. Sure is different now.

In fact I started to lose contact with my pen friends after there was the internet. Since it is much more convenient to make a contact to each other anytime. Your discussion also reminded me of the past days when I wrote to my pen friends.

It is nice to remember the old school days. I had collected so many postcards, letters and greeting cards in a shoebox. Sad to say, it is not popular anymore.

I had a few once upon a time. Now I guess it's email pals. Not the same thrill as getting an envelope in the post with exotic stamps.

@cvarr0913 Yes, I had pen pals. I have one person now that I write letters to because she does not have a computer. I owe her a letter now.

Hi! I had one pen pal that lasted for two years. She was from London and I had no idea where she is now. Currently, I have pen pals from Malaysia, Indonesia and the UK. Maybe we could be pen pals too if you wish!

I had many pen pals during high school. I also had one from Oregon. His name was James McCoy. I do not know if he is still alive this time. I was 14 and he was 56 that time hehehehe. He seems just my granddad. What I like on that writing is the stamps as I am a stamp collector fanatic.
