My Life As A Shorty

One of my greatest frustrations that I have learned to live with is my lack of a few inches in height. In short, being short. I'm 5 feet and 2 inches short. Back in the Philippines it doesn't really bother me much because it is the average Filipino height. But here in Australia it is kind of inconvenient. Some disadvantage includes sitting down on a bench with my feet dangling and not reaching the ground. Or having difficulty reaching shelves that tall people have no problem in reaching. Plus going on a date with someone way too tall for me and feeling like an elephant dating a giraffe. Anyway being short have some perks too. Like looking younger than my real age. Getting the baby treatment. And being able to wear heels. How about you guys any additions to what I've mentioned? Are you happy with your height?

Being petite is not a hindrance. We, Asian have advantage. We look exotic and some people wanted to be us. That's a fact my dear friend.

Hi friend, thank you for the self esteem boost. Well I'd agree with being exotic as a lot of guys here particularly Europeans think I'm beautiful. Although I only feel cute haha. It's just that I feel kinda awkward dating someone too tall. It almost feel like father and child sometimes

I remember my cousin who got married with a Spanish man. When we asked what is in my cousin that attracts her husband, she answered it is her small nose. By the way, her husband has an aquiline nose.

@flapiz I have a cousin who is 6" feet tall.and to be honest, I do not like getting too close to him because I look like a dwarf beside a giant. Haha! It is really awkward talking to a very tall person and what I just like to do sometimes is to get a chair so I can reach the tall person who is talking with me.

Back in my home country if you want to be a model or a flight stewardess you got to be at least 5 feet 4 inches. So I guess for me, you're pretty tall

I'm 5"1', and here in Canada it's pretty short. It's not easy reaching some high places. As frustrating as it may be, I've gotten used to it.

We're almost the same height. Back in Asia it's no problem But here in the World of giants it could get frustrating. Although like you I've gotten quite used to it. There are just moments when I'm reminded by it.

I wish I could be taller and bigger just like the rest of my siblings. Because of my petite body, many have mistaken me as the youngest child. I think one of the reasons why I have a small figure is that when I was a kid, I often get sick. So, somehow, I think it affects my height. But as time goes by I accepted my height and I started to love the height as given to me by God. I am thankful for everything I have. I know being small has advantages and disadvantages. If I focus on disadvantages and compare my height to my siblings, I'll just get jealous and sad. So, I'd rather shift my focus on the advantages and do myself a favor.

@flapiz I also experience moments like that. It is funny and I just laugh at the cuteness of it. Somehow, other people want to be like us too.

@annierose I like how you are able to laugh at yourself. It is kinda cute. Probably tall girls also want to be shorter too. I really should stop being bothered by things that I couldn't change.

Well that's a nice way to look at it. I don't mind it every time, but today as I adjusted the cycling machine to the lowest height I kinda felt it. Like, dang it I'm short.

I don't think it's a disadvantage being short, I couldn't imagine those tall guys or girls riding a jeep or tricycle for an instance. I think there are more problems than your height . Be thankful and blessed that you even got a chance to go there while others have failed. you being there had nothing to do with being short. stand tall and be proud of yourself.

That's very motivational. Yes indeed there's more to me than my height. What I lack in height I make up in personality and wit. Cheers!
