Very, Very Happy Mail Today!

United States
March 28, 2016 7:01pm CST
Oh my mailbox was full today! First a graduation announcement from my grandson, Kyle. He will graduate high school and with an Associate Degree from Liberty University! I am very proud of him and plan to attend in May. Secondly I received a pocket letter from my sister! She lives in California and is very crafty. She will retire in December but can't wait to start retirement activities such as pocket letters! Her work is very demanding and she drives three hours a day so doesn't have much free time. If the picture made it (haha) this is her pocket letter! Thirdly, a PostCrossing person asked me if I would be pen pals with her mother (in France) and I agreed and today I received my first letter! It included a post card, a nice long letter, two different kinds of French tea and was decorated with stamping, little jewels, washi tape and stickers! It was adorable! I was completely surprised and delighted! I can't wait to write back. I can include an Etegami postcard! She is near my age and we have a lot in common! What a great way to end the day!

I am glad you enjoeyd your mail delivery today. The pocket letter (of which I've never heard of) is very cute! Your grandson will graduate high school but at the same time will be graduating with an asociate degree from a college? That part confused me so if you could clarify I'd be much obliged.

Yes, his study load for his last two years of high school included all the requirements to obtain his Associates Degree from College. He therefore earned his diploma and a degree. It is offered through many colleges these days.

@Jeanniemaries Oh okay, that seems like a workload for him but I suppose it frees him up for other studies or career choices right away.

I always get excited whenever I receive a snail mail. I don't have the time to do pocket letter these days but I already bought materials for that. I even bought a WRMK fuse tools to be used on pocket letters.

I want a fuse tool! You can do a pocket letter at your leisure and when completed, then look for a swap partner. My trouble is once I'm working on one I don't want to stop!

@Jeanniemaries She's done well, I hope to last out until 62 years, so I have less then 10 left, but some days......like today.....it feel like it might as well be 100 years left! What a terribly stressful day I've had, glad that its almost over.

She would like to improve her English, so I will try to be careful of my grammar and spelling etc! Not my strong suit.

@crazyhorseladycx Well, I love it because I hear the prose, but she might get a little confused! It would certainly make it interesting!

In the photo is a pocket letter. You fill the pockets of a trading card plastic pouch with interesting homemade cards and little gifts. In one of the pockets you add your letter. Fold it in thirds and it fits a business size envelope.

Totally awesome. I haven't started Postcrossing yet, and am still waiting on my first postcard already sent to me before I got all signed up. Just need to find postcards.

@Jeanniemaries I still need to find post cards. That's going to be the fun part since most places don't have them anymore.

You'll like it once you get started. It takes forever to postcards to arrive though so you need to be patient. I've still only received three though postcrossings. I do have three on the way and six more of my cards still traveling. When they arrive I'll have six more on the way. It takes a bit to get rolling but once rolling you will get them all the time.

@just4him If you keep your eyes open for them specifically, you will be surprised to find them in unusual place and you can buy them a few at a time like at dollar stores. Also you can get beautiful postcards on Amazon at 20 postcards for $6.95. No shipping costs if your a prime member.

That was certainly unexpected. I think it will be very fun. She is working on her English and it's very interesting to read how she phrases things.

Wow! Those are all wonderful, to be sure! Once I'm moved and settled, i'm going to look around to find a pen pal. I'd love to have a friend to share letters with, rather than just be friends online. It's a whole different kind of friendship, as you know. :)
