I borrowed it and returned it.

Last night I needed bus fare to go to my Dr. appointment today. My neighbor called and I let her know and she offered it to me. she did not say if it was a loan or a gift. I ended up getting a ride to the office. On my way home I stopped at her door an he husband was home alone. I passed him the money and asked that he give it to his wife. She called to say I could have kept it. I told her I am funny about money and did not want to keep it. I feel better now that it's over and hope to be able to always return anything I get from anyone always.

I always say that if someone lends you something and you return it, you can ask again in case of need.

That should be the case and for me it's like that.

I agree that is the best way to be in this kind of situation.

I agree and I think that your neighbor will appreciate it. I have friends who don't even offer to return something and it's annoying, even if I intended to give it as a gift.

We ae not rich people so I can't see that happening. It will stop people from gifting over time.
