Do you feel safe walking alone in your neighborhood?

I don't live in an awful area, but it also is not the best either. I do find myself being scared walking alone so I don't go for strolls as much as I liked too. I just wish I lived in a really nice area with great scenery so I could feel safe walking around on my own.
Do you feel the same?

I always walk fast. I have an umbrella and a pair of scissors, just in case I'll need them

The only thing that feels unsafe to me is uneven walking surfaces. I would hate to fall. I am not fearful of people or animals here.

I live in a nice location. There is a big apartment stores nearby. Besides, the public transportation is convenient and the bus stops and subway are around here. There are several hospitals around and it is easy for me to go to see a doctor. I also go to a park in five minutes on foot. And I feel safe to walk around at night.

Our neighborhood is one of the safer to walk in. We have two sheriff's deputies and a highway patrolman living in the area, and a lot of my neighbors hunt or are into target shooting, so troublemakers tend to avoid coming around. They would be in more danger from us than us from them. My wife walks every morning before work, with our dog Ginger, and sees many of our neighbors out walking, running, or biking at that time. She's never felt herself to be in danger but she does stay vigilant.

yes, especially around 8 to 9pm when it's cooler and quieter, with less vehicles and people.

I don't mind. I've put myself in positions where anything could have happened at ridiculous moments, both intentionally and inadvertently. I do get wary but I have no choice over a lot of my day-to-day walking routes ... I would have to stay in; that's my only alternative.
