Day 11 Psalm 11 Psalm 11:1 < In the LORD put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain? 2 For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart. 3 If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do? 4 The LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD’S throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men. 5 The LORD tries the righteous: but the wicked and him that loves violence his soul hates. 6 Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and a horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup. 7 For the righteous LORD loves righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright. Whom do you trust? Are you ready to stand and fight or flee at the first hint of trouble? David’s trust was in God. His enemies surrounded him. However, he knew God was on his throne. His enemies could do nothing to him because God took care of him. God knows our hearts, our motivations, whether they are right before him or not. He weighs everything and destroys evil from his sight. God had destroyed by fire and brimstone once before when he overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah. He will do it again during the tribulation. Genesis 19:24 Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven; 25 And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground. (KJV) Jude 1:7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. When God judges you, what will he find? Will he find a faithful follower of his Son, Jesus, whom he sent to be our Savior, destroying death forever, and defeating our enemy Satan through his shed blood on the cross? Or will he find you have rejected his Son, and your destiny is the lake of fire and brimstone? God knows who are his and looks on them with favor and love, and one day all they who love him will be with him forever. Revelation 20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. 5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. (KJV) Death has no power over all those who put their trust in Jesus. David’s trust was in God and his promised Messiah. His life was a testimony of his faith and trust in God. Is your life a testimony of faith and trust in Jesus Christ? Let’s pray: Father, you know all things and whether my heart is right with you. Take away everything that hinders my walk with you and keep me on the path of your salvation found in your Son, Jesus Christ. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
