Can You Still Stay Awake Really Late?

When I was younger I was a night owl and used to stay awake til the early hours of the morning. Now with the stresses of work and being tired after work I find myself yearning for my bed as soon as I get back from work at 9pm! I try to stay awake and watch some catch up tv, but usually by 11pm I need to shut my eyes and visit dream land! Guess my age is creeping up on me now! What about you?

This is my second attempt to respond. I am not a night owl. I am a morning person. This was as a young person and has not change.

Wow! I haven't changed too. I am always a morning person. And when the clock ticks at 9pm,I already feel sleepy. Just like now, I feel like I want to bed soon after interacting with other mylotters.

Was it showing an error before? I wish I was more of a morning person, would make getting out of bed easy!

When I was young, I was energetic most of the time. Today if I want to be energetic, then I need a cup of coffee Perhaps I have become older and therefore it is normal that I will feel tired easily than before.

I also drink coffee especially if I feel sleepy. Sometimes, I drink vitamins so I can have full energy.

Growing up, I was more of a morning person, but when I got to university things changed. I slowly became more of a night owl. However, when my kids were born, I had to change my routine a little. It didn't happen right away. I can remember my eldest being born, and still staying up late, but now, I'm more of a morning person again.

@gudheart it's good. It take some time, but I did manage to do it. I just realized that, in order to take care of my kids and be there for them, I needed sleep. You have to do what you have to do.

It is very difficult for me to stay awake late at night. I have been trained to sleep early. I admire those people who can stay awake from evening up to the following day. That one is not for me. I think that if I will do that, I might get sick.

@gudheart Maybe you did lots of things the previous day. Or perhaps you were thinking something?

@gudheart I also take medication that pretty well knocks me out around 10 or 11pm. I often fall asleep in the recliner.

@simone10 I am on anxiety meds so I am guessing that has a factor as to why I am always sleepy.

@gudheart Yup, especially when you still have to travel back home. I am working at home and I still feel so drained after working late.

Do not worry about it. After you have retired, and have all the time for sleeping, you will find it tough to fall asleep. You can stay up late even if you really want to sleep.

When I used to have to get up at 6am I had to go to bed at a reasonable time. Now I'm retired I'm often still up at 4am, then I don't get up till 10 or 11am.

I've always been 'an early to bed and early to rise creature'. However mylot sometimes gets in the way so I sometimes sleep late but just the same i still wake up early.

I can relate with that . When I was young I can stay awake even until morning but when I got older, it's impossible to do that especially now that I have hypertension.

Sometimes, sometimes not. I could stay up all night if I wanted to, but I would pay for it the next day. As a student it was really important for me to make the most of every hour of my existence, even if that meant a lack of sleep. As a grow'd up adult I would prefer to just waste my existence through sleep.

Last night I had to sleep early due to my early start but I could have stayed awake all night because I was having so much fun on my new game. It is very addictive!
