Bleacher Report on Friday said the New York Jets are interested in signing to a contract current Houston Texans backup quarterback Brian Hoyer to a contract before the 2016 football season. Ryan Fitzpatrick who is currently a free agent has not signed a contract extension with the Jets who are not willing to pay Fitzpatrick the salary that he is seeking to remain with the team. Since former Denver Broncos quarterback Brock Osweiler signed a four year, $72 million dollar contract as a free agent to be the next starting quarterback of the Houston Texans, the likely scenario is for the Texans to either trade Hoyer to an another football team or release him so they can save $5.25 million dollars against the salary cap. If Fitzpatrick does not return to the Jets, the Jets figure that Hoyer would fill the void on their football team during the 2016 football team as the starting quarterback of the team.

Hoyer should want to go to New York. Better opportunity.

The Jets need another quarterback since Fitzgerald is not likely to return. Hoyer has admitted that his time in Houston is done.
