After 6 days on the road we arrived home in Connecticut this afternoon. To say that our dogs were over the moon to see us is a vast understatement. They couldn't stop rubbing against us and giving us doggy kisses. I am exhausted. It is going to feel good to get back into my own bed after 3 months. I have only just started to unload the car, we will finish it tomorrow. We went out to dinner with our daughter and the grandsons and now we are sitting with a heater and watching a little TV. I hope everyone is having a great weekend. Have you ever been away from home for 3 months?

I don't think that I could stand being away from our home for more than 2 weeks, although a few years back I was in the hospital for 3 months. Tougher 3 months in my life.

That is a reason no one wants to be away from home. I can well imagine that it was tough, I have never spent much ore than a month in the hospital.

Glad you made it home safe and sound....where were the pups while you were away? I'm sure they were delighted to see you again.

They stayed at home with my 22 year old grandson Alex. He was my house/dog sitter

That is much more common I am sure than my being away for so long. It is good to be home again.

I'm glad that you are safely home, and I can understand the delight of your dogs. We stayed in France for a year when we were younger.

What cute dogs @BelleStarr and I'll bet they did miss you guys. I'm exhausted just thinking about what you guys have been through. My longest stretch was 8 days and that was only because I was in the hospital for a ruptured appendix. And trust me, that was long enough.

Oh that is terrible. I did spend a month in the hospital when I had my third son and know how hard that is.

@TiarasOceanView It was ruptured for 3 days. The poison was so bad, they had to cut me from the belly button down to my pelvic bone; pull out all my intestines; hose me out and it took 17 staples to close me back up. The surgeon said I had only about 1 hour left to live had I not gone to the hospital. This happened at age 59, which is a rarity.

No, but I regularly leave for six weeks to two months at a time. It's always great to get home whether it's 2 days or 2 months! I'm off on a trip tomorrow for three days at Disney. The Epcot flower show is open and it's one I've always wanted to see. Glad you made it home safe and sound.

When my first husband and I moved to Winston-Salem, NC, we were there for a short 3 months. I was terribly homesick. I toughed it out. When my husband said we were moving back I jumped for joy. The first few nights back we stayed in a tent in my aunt's yard. Even so, it was good to be home.

You'll sleep well tonight I bet! I've never been away for more then a week or so myself, I'm a home body so that's good for me. My parents used to go away for several months travelling here or there.

I am not made to travel! I've never been away for more than a week or so at a time, and I wouldn't really want to go for a longer trip unless I knew I could settle in a home away from home, somewhere else. My two older daughters are great travellers, though. They started visiting away from home alone when they were about 12-13. My oldest has been flying all over the country unescorted, for years. We drop them at the airport and the flight staff meet them after they clear security. When they reach their destination, an officer will meet them and take them to the military base. My oldest has flown everywhere from the Maritime provinces to British Columbia, to the Yukon in the north. These days when she leaves for work, she goes for 7 weeks at a time. She is never bothered by it at all, and in fact really looks forward to it.

Luckily in Florida it is our own home so we feel at home there. It is just long and hard driving between the two locations.

I do not think I know what you were up to in those 3 months and would love to hear about it. Those dogs look loving. Their welcoming the way you have described is not new to me.

no ma'am, can't say that i've done such. thinkin' the longest i've been gone's 'bout a month'n a half?? when my dad 'twas battlin' cancer back'n the hills. i got thoroughly mauled by the pups/cats here, shunned by a few horses 'n cows - licked by the rest.

Only when I traveled around to other states, but that took about eight years. Each area I lived in was considered home if only temporarily. At the time I didn't know that I would end up back in my home state and city. My travels would be considered completely different than going south for the winter months. Have you been doing this for a few years or is this your first trip and stay in Florida? I don't remember since it seems like several of the mylot ladies ended up there this winter. I bet you wished you'd waited until the cooler weather was completely done? We're having snow flurries this weekend in Michigan.
