Got my glo fil test results that I had done yesterday. My GFR level measured at 53 so that means I do not need a kidney transplant at this time. He also doesn't think my kidney function will impede advanced heart failure therapies provided my gfr remains at current level. So that's great news that my kidney's our still functioning as we thought they weren't. So that made my night when I got that news :)

That is wonderful news, will you undoubtedly still need the heart surgery at this time?

@Blondie2222 Is that all done at once, both the heart as well as lungs? I take it that you are on a donor list then, is that right?

@Juliaacv it is both at the same time. Not yet right now I'm going thru the evaluation process to see if I'm a candidate or not.

@allknowing i do try to take care of myself. I still need a heart/lung transplant later down the road but they may do heart valve replacement and put a heart pump in first before deciding to do the transplant.

@simone10 Yeah I'm either going to have the aortic valve replaced and a heart pump put in or do heart/lung transplant.

That is good to hear. I think you are taking very good care of yourself. Kidney is a very strong organ, and with proper care, it will last a long time without you worrying about transplant.

I guess the key word here is at this time... at this time you don't need a kidney transplant.. that doesn't mean you might not need one in the future. It is a relief for now though that you aren't in need of one. I am glad for you getting this good news.
