Laguna Beach Sculpture - Is It a Bird?

This is a photo of another sculpture from Laguna Beach, California.
I have no idea what it is supposed to be, so I just called it the "weird bird," and my friends know exactly what I am talking about.
However, I have no idea what the artist intended ... or if they intended anything specific by it.
The wonderful thing about interesting art is that we can all interpret it in our own way.
What do you think it is?

I can see your idea of a spear impacting a ball. That probably makes as much sense as a bird. I really wanted to hear more ideas so I could expand the way I "see" it whenever I walk by!

@JudyEv - Yes, seeing how someone else views a work of art can change the way we see it, too.

@DeborahDiane It is interesting to learn what others can see. And it can then change our whole way of thinking about something.

A flamingo on top of a whale's blow hole! That's a cool, creative suggestion! I will look at that view of it, the next time I walk by.

I typically prefer something I can recognize. I've never been a big fan of abstract or modern art or whatever that is!

I know a lot of people do not like abstract art. Most of us like to make "sense" of what we see! LOL

I believe it is a perched bird yes.
It is surely not a snake so it has to be a bird.
I dont care what it is as it is by the lovely ocean lolz Means I want to be there.

I agree! Whatever it is, it has an incredible view of the Pacific Ocean.

Perhaps it is not supposed to look like anything that is "real." After all, I have never seen anything that looks like it!

In reality, that is probably the best way to think of it ... as something pleasing, but nothing in particular! LOL

In the thumbnail I thought it was a diving squirrel. Hmm, I think I would need to see it in real before I could accurately judge what it looks like.

Ha Ha! If you don't see a bird, that is perfectly OK. I just couldn't think of anything else!

@Hannihar - Yes, it is hard to tell what the artist intended to make, but it looks to me more like a bird than anything!

I love the idea of a miniature submarine with a little handle on it. That is a clever way to think of this sculpture!

Ha Ha! I cannot make anything out of it, really. I just said bird because that was all I could think of!
