Quick or Agonizing Death?

Philippines

We've had some rat problems for the past few days now. Every time we put the food on the table, not long after we leave the table, rats would come in and devour what's on it. It was like that for days until Iv'e finally bought a fly paper and a chocolate bar. I would cut a small portion and put it in the center as bait. After that it wasn't long after i was able to capture two rats. Grandma was shock to see them up close. Then I bought a stick and a candle, I asked which method I should use to kill them. One was agonizing death, by letting the candle wax dropped into the rats head, completely suffocating it while in pain from the waxe's heat. Second was the quick death, one hit by an arnis stick on it's head and it does quickly. I've actually used both, but the agonizing death is just waste on the candle wax and we usually use the candle only in black outs. I'm sure some of you would have protested and prefer me to use racumin instead. But we also have roach problem and they also eat that but doesn't die.

Rats aew a terrible health problem as they bring many ailments. The best way is not to leave any food on the table. Each person can bring theur own dish and empty it in a garbage can with a safe cover. The food should be also ketp away from rats before they are cooked. I donĀ“t have rats, but I could have other pests if U did not save every glass jar that comes along. There I place the rice, the pasta and the flour. If the bugs and rats have nothing to eat, they will migrate

Hello @marguicha I agree, every one can always just bring their own dishes, wash them afterwards and put the foods back to the fridge.

We have many rats here before but when I found a new method, we don't kill them, it's our cats will kill them, we won't give food during dinner for our cats or we let them get hungry and when they saw rats, they eat it, until now, we don't have rats here.

Hello @ida123 If only mom would appreciate that, she didn't like cats though I used to have a couple of few she didn't want them inside which could have dealt with the rat problem.

@Letranknight2015 I see, so you have to find another means to kill that rats inside your house.

@Letranknight2015 Know I don't know but I would be out of there so fast it would make your head spin. I would find a hotel to stay in or buy a different house that has none of that.

Hello @epiffanie Well, I will try racumin again when I get the chance to buy one, but really they are clever and not easy to catch.

Well, we still have to deal with the big ones, they are so freaking smart @jstory07 not sure if the steel rat traps works anymore. but once i've got from my brother's house, we'll see. the ones i've captured were the small ones.

Hello @MGjhaud I can only kill only a few but the rest are just too smart and too fast, maybe I'll add more fly paper in the future.

I always use candle. I would let the hot wax drop on its eyes and the its whole body till it turned stiff.

@Letranknight2015 yes I did, I hate rats and would do everything to get rid of them.

You probably like their screams as they get hit by the candle wax @salonga but really they are a pest, my dog was lucky enough to caught one rat. but the rest are still just running around and outsmarting her.

@Letranknight2015 It's like a bird cage wherein you have to put some food inside. It can trap bigger ones.

Cats are a good suggestion. I have cats to keep the rats away. Another method of trapping them is a tall bucket of water, like a 5 gallon bucket. They will go after the water and fall in and drown. My mom used a tall trash can with dog kibble in the bottom of it to catch rats. She wouldn't kill them though. She took them away and set them free.

Hello @norcal even if I set them free, they will just come back. In fact, some of them were coming from the man hole and sneaking through our gate.

The rats are now high-tech, meaning they cannot die on Racumin alone. A bait is better too, than Dora or Racumin.
