No More Soda For Me

No More Soda For Me I admit I love to drink soda and I think I drink too much of it every day. I even think I'm addicted to it. I was able to (gradually) stop myself from drinking alcoholic drinks which I used to drink every night many years ago. But it seems I can't stop myself from drinking soda Last night though my 1 year and 8 month old son vomits every time he drinks his milk up until this morning we had to bring him to a pediatrician. Though the doc never thought of stomach acid as a cause, I know that it was the soda that he drank less than an hour he drank milk that cause the vomiting. (The pedia was not our regular pedia and I don't think she was very thorough on her diagnosis). I know that soda does not go very well with milk. Usually he would ask (demand even) to drink soda too whenever he sees me or any other people drink some. So, from now on, for my son's sake. No more soda for me. It will be better for our health too.

Actually. I don't want to give soda to my son too. Problem is my in-laws. Specially my wife's Aunt. Sadly, since we don't have a nanny, we have to leave our son to them when we go to work. I have told them several times not to give our son anything but they would reply "He was crying for it" It's harder to descipline the adults than a toddler.

@jrlcentral This is something we can't avoid.Funny thing is they do love the kids and just want to show their love.So when a baby cries for something they will give it to the baby.

@silvermist that is true. Sadly that is a wrong way of showing love. However, even I sometimes cant help myself.

good for you and your son! As in my kids case, they drank soda even when small, but they never vomits. It can also be a colic maybe? But this one is a good decision for you.

I don't think it's colic. The doc think its just due to his cough. I agree that babies would vomit when the cough out mucus. He does that in the past. But usually he would cough a few times before he would vomit. This time he would sit up, before he throws up.

I love soda too but at the same time I am also aware that it is not good for us so I too have cut down on it to just maybe during the weekend. Yes for your child, you should give up. Hope he is better now.

I'm glad you finally decided to stop drinking soda. It doesn't have health benefits anyway. You made the right choice.
