Led by vocalist/guitarist Tom Cochrane, Canada's Red Rider is probably best known for their song "Lunatic Fringe," (Cochrane also scored a solo hit with "Life is a Highway".) The band is a multiple Juno winner with eight, and Cochrane is in the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. While "Lunatic Fringe" might very well be Red Rider's most popular tune, I maintain that "Human Race" is the band's best song, especially when preceded by the instrumental "Light in the Tunnel," which features some haunting guitar play from Cochrane. It couldn't be any more perfect lead-in.
Two Awesome songs, "Light In The Tunnel" and "Human Race" from the album "Neruda" from 1983.

Not heard this one before, trying to remember where I've heard a guitar played like that before

I'm not sure. David Gilmore? He popped into my head, which means I'm probably wrong.

Yep, definitely better than "Lunatic Fringe." I wonder why those "murderer" songs are bands' only popular ones in the US (the only hit the Boomtown Rats had in the US was "I Don't Like Mondays," for instance).

I have no idea, but they are popular for some reason. I like "I Don't Like Monday's" as much for Johnny Fingers' piano as the rest of the song itself, but for that reason I'd probably like it if it were about something else, if that makes any sense.

Very cool Scott. This reminded me of when my best friend at the time said she would come look for me even if we had been radiated by a nuclear blast..even if she had glowing bones.

Well familiar with hits Life is a Highway and Lunatic Fringe. Now they have popped into my head! Didn't realize Red Rider was Canadian. They received plenty of alternative radio play here.

They played them quite a bit here, back when we still had an alternative station.
