Merle Haggard just died of double pneumonia on his birthday! yikes. 
how strange to go on your birthday. I do remember loving so many of his songs back when I was a big country music fan late 70's, early 80's. been a long time since I heard any comparable music in country songs. what an interesting life the guy had. never read his bio till now. 
Did you ever like his music? I think I liked "the fightin' side of me" best. back when I still believed in our country.

I really do not know much about his music, I don't know anyone who has passed on their birthday like this.

His son posted that Hag said a week ago he would die on his birthday.
