Part time jobs for extra cash

The labor market in Singapore is getting very tight. That does not mean the salary is getting higher. Many companies are hiring part time workers in instead of full time workers. They pay a salary between S$4.50 to S$10. After the mandatory deduction for individual pension scheme known as CPF, we get just 80% of the pay. The part time workers enjoy bare minimum of benefits. That is why many of these part timers are students, housewives who cannot commit to full time job or workers who take up a second job. Extra cash is always good. When we go out to the MRT station or shopping mall, we always receive flyers advertising part time jobs for extra cash. If my current job allows me to take on a part time job, I will definitely do so.

Full time jobs are getting harder and harder to find in the US. It's really a shame, many young people will never be able to move out of their parents house as they can't make enough to live on a part time job.

@scheng1 Very true, many college graduates here in the US can not find or get a job in the field for which they have a degree.

@fishtiger58 I think they are better off training for a skill. At least they can earn a living, and pay off their debt. There are many skills still in demand in the world. If they can work as a radiographer, that is at least a skill that is in demand worldwide.

I think part time workers are becoming the new hiring practice for many companies. It certainly saves the employer but doesn't offer as much for someone needing full time wages

@scheng1 I didn't know that and it's horrible to hear such things are still going on in the world.

@Marilynda1225 That is why jobs are moving out of US to developing countries. In US, nobody will want to work so hard for little money, but in many Asia countries, people are willing to do that.

I like diligent people and you are one of them Since I have a full time work and I also want to spend more time with my family, so I can't go out to find a part time job. So trying to find online jobs is better for me. I can also do it for fun. Long time ago an online friend suddenly asked me to translate his website into Chinese and I got well paid from it. I hope I can have more opportunities to have part time job like that. Today my main online income is from the survey websites. Of course it spends me long time reaching the payout. But it is OK, I am patient to it.

I think your son will do better than you if he joins Mylot. I do not know about the payment since he is too young for Paypal. You have a great job, with a great family, and you do not need the extra cash!

Part timer workers do paid less so some company seem to like to use them but I think the requirement for one is also not so high and usually a job of not really skilled people. But they do help in helping people who are looking for job but unable to commit to a permanent job which need higher requirements

I have seen some high level part time positions. One is IT Manager, and another is HR Manager. I think the companies are not that huge, and they do not need a full timer to handle all the daily work. After all, when the company has less than 100 people, a part time HR Manager can easily cope with the work.

There is no such thing as a depressed global economy. Jobs have to go somewhere. When jobs are outsourced from one country to another, the workers in the first country lose their jobs while the workers in the second country gain.

I think the approach of hiring part time workers is common everywhere. It lets the employer offer fewer benefits and lower wages.

Probably not everywhere. We do not know enough about employment market in South America, Africa, and many other countries in Asia and Middle East. We only know about the job market in a few countries or in our own country only.

I also love have part time job for extra money, because the job can help us to spend our spare time. It also can get rid of boredom from our full time job. I am a mom with two children. I also like having part time job, because I have to take care my children.

I think you can ask around to see if other parents let you take care of their children. Since you are already taking care of you, it does not take much effort to take care of another two. After all, you just have to cook a bit more rice, more meat and more vegetables.
