What is holding you back from being the person you want to be?

When this question stroked my mind I realized that most of the barriers are created by us. On analyzing myself, I noticed that somewhere I feared a bit taking the step ahead. It’s just that I sometimes fear to get out of the comfort zone. I have a good experience wherein I fear at first but when I try to attempt it, it actually feels like there weren’t any obstacles other than in my mind. And sometimes I just need to push myself to get it done. Analyzing it, I found few think that can actually hinder our progress. These are 1. Our thought – I believe our life is what our thoughts make it. It is very important to believe in ourselves and in our abilities. 2. Our habits and choices 3. The blame game – Taking responsibility for the things we do. 4. Having clarity- It’s very important to have clarity in life about what we exactly want. 5. Fear of failure What you friends think about it? What is it, that ever held you back? How did you overcome it?

My thoughts always held me back. I am really having difficulty in convincing myself to get out of my comfort zone. That failure is ok as long as I learn something. :)

Controlling our thought and getting out of the comfort zone is very crucial because that's where we get to learning something new. I always try pushing myself whenever I am afraid to do anything.

@hydraa I hope I can also do that. I am trying to overcome that fear by try something new once in a while. So that I can be use to change and once I tried to go out of my comfort zone at least the change part won't be that scary. :)

I'd like to give little more clarification about the five points that you've mentioned. 1. Thought: We're what we think and our thought decides our actions and our actions determines our attitude. So our thoughts plays an eminent role in determining what kind of person we are. 2.Our Habits And choices : we must be conscious enough to distinguish between what habits are causing harm and eliminating them. Sometimes what happen we're not able to look deeper inside . 3.The blame game: the most common thing played by the human being. Whenever we blame someone, we put the burden of handling something or some situtation you wanna over come with, to someone else. This ultimately causes problem after some time. If we look deeper within ourself the answer to our every question lies within us and the blame game never creates a positive life. 4. Having Clarity : Having clarity of our goals and ambitions is as much important as inhaling and exhaling breath. Our mind is designed in such a manner that, until it is not instructed well or disciplined well , it deviates . To achieve the clarity of mind, one must start writing down their goals .This helps really a lot. 5.Fear of Failure: Failure is just a mindset, nothing more than that. When a person think that they can't do something, they can't . and if they say, they can, they really can. There is no doubt in that.

I think maybe being too busy has something to do with it.

Do you mean to say being busy in other stuff and unable to take time for your own self?

I think fear of failure and clarity of mind do not go hand in hand, and as result conflict of mind takes place. Our past experiences are very much responsible if today we are holding back.

Yea, absolutely true. I realized it now when you said those things that the family background, the society, and surround one grew up in can seriously hold anyone back.
