I cooked for them once again. This morning, my parents prepared early to go to church. My mother will assist at a wedding in the Catholic church and my father will attend a funeral in the UCCP church. I told my mother I will also leave early coz I will go to the market. They left before 8 and I also left at 8. Upon reaching the market, I looked for fresh fish and I should get like what I cooked before - 2 pieces of tilapia and 2 pieces of milkfish - but their tilapia were not as big as before. So I got 2 more pieces and that weighed a kilogram all in all. I also took the biggest milkfish that I had seen, it wasn't so big though. I also went to the meat section and got two pieces of big pork chops. I roamed around the market for veggies and I had seen fresh corn kernels and bitter melon leaves, so I bought those too. When I arrived home, it was only past 9 and I thought it was still too early to cook and my parents were not here yet. At past 10, I cleaned the fish and added seasoned salt while I boiled the pork. After that, I lit the charcoals and brought out the fish and meat when the charcoals were ready. It was 11:30 and they were not here yet and I was grilling outdoors and I still need to cook rice. So I covered first what I am grilling and cooked rice, then went out as fast as I can because our dogs might get their share. They came home at past 12, my mother arrived about two minutes earlier than my father. I had done grilling the second and last batch after around 5 minutes since they arrived and I placed them in a big frying pan so that I can cover it. When I got inside the house, I let my father carry the covered frying pan and put it on the table. Then my mother asked what I grilled and I said it's tilapia and milkfish. She said I should have grilled some pork, too. I told her to look at it and she smiled and she was delighted. We had a hearty lunch, and we had almost eaten all the rice that I cooked. We still have fish and meat for dinner, but I will also cook the corn and the bitter melon leaves. I may not always say or show them that I love them, but I hope these simple gestures will make them feel that I do. Have a nice day everyone!

@brokenbee There is no perfect child just as there is no perfect parents but the mere fact you have a sense of responsibility is enough to compensate for whatever shortcomings you have.

Thank you! Yes, I think it is healthier than frying and I also made sure they are not burnt because that could also be bad to our health.

I would consider those as grand gestures because I can't cook. You're such a sweet daughter and I like the grilled fish and would love to eat them with a spicy sauce.

That was sweet of you arbee I remember when my Papa came for a visit. I surprised him with his favorite dish, the Chicken Curry. But I did say to my father that my cooking pales to comparison with my Mama's cooking hehe

@brokenbee So you are the only child still at home? Are you in high school, university or have finished school? I am just trying to get an idea of your age as you may not want others to know that. Anyways, whatever you age, keep showing that kind of love for your parents and make them proud!

I love cooking as I also love to eat. But there are times when I just let my mother do all the cooking because I am busy online. She understands that. And when I am not that busy, I also help her.

@cacay1 yes, that's what my parents had noticed with some kids today. When my mother is here, she's t@e one who cooks and she just lets me work in front of the computer. So when she is not around, I also do my part, even if I have other things to do.
