“It is sent!”

the hermit crab so slow like my sickness benefits

This morning I, accompanied by my son, went to the city proper to follow up my application for my sickness benefits at the Social Security System (SSS). I had to wait for 10 minutes so Mark D., the customer representative, will be finished with client #4. I was client #6, so there is one more before me. Client #4 was taking it too long so a lady employee asked me what my number was. When I said “#6”, she called me. I told her my concern, she checked her computer, then said “Ma’am, it is already sent”. I will have to wait for the cheque to be delivered at home. My only problem is the amount I will receive is just a fifth of what I spent in the hospital, but I am still glad the agency gave me my sickness benefits. Do you feel disgusted because you are given just a little amount of what you applied for and not what you expected it to be?

That's really frustrating since we've been paying for it.

Hi Ate I'm back. While two of my kids are napping right now, I went and check Mylot and see you. I was swamped with chores and is still being swamped. I can't recall if I ever had a similar situation but if I were in your shoes, I will feel the same way. Talk about being disappointed big time.

@ridingbet I can't promise that I'll be here on a regular basis Ate but I will try As for the story, no new ideas yet. And as for the old stories that I have already started, I'm still waiting for the go signal from the admin to share it here. I agree with that Ate. Sometimes, it's better to have something than completely nothing.

i hope you are back again for good hija. so, where is your story? yes indeed, we get disappointed when the amount we wish for is just a half or a quarter of what we will receive, but I still thank God because I will receive something.

I think when you submitted it they can already give you the computation , because there is a formula .

@ridingbet Aren't they online , wherein they can see once they open your account all those details and from there can give the amount of what you will be receiving . Well, i guess this pertains to making the mutlti-purpose loan where they can after seeing you account in the computer , compute how much will be released to you .

@SIMPLYD the sickness benefits are evaluated by the doctor and assisted by the nurse in Baguio my lady. they have to evaluate if the laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures done to me are really needed for my sickness. Mark asked me if i underwent laparoscopy because when one undergoes this invasive procedure, the higher the benefits.

Mark needed to check on his computer because my papers were sent to th summer capital, and besides, Mark is a newcomer to the office. the amount i pay for my premium and my number of years working were taken into consideration.

It is frustrating. My sons medical bill was $1,000. We had been told that we didn't need travel insurance because we were covered through the work policy. If that's coverage, we urge didn't think the $100. they gave us was coverage.

so is it just $100 coverage that they gave you and your son's bill was $1000?

@Morleyhunt wow, a $100 is just a tenth of the $1000 and it is really upsetting. the $100 bill cannot even cover for an item that you wish should buy in a store, or even fine dining.

yes it is really better than nothing but what i wished for is it should be higher because I did many laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures. the amount is just my payment for the medicines I used while i was confined.

It is quite sad that SSS pays you that small amount only. But how about your Philhealth, did you use your Philhealth when you paid your hospital bill?

yes I did my friend. my total expenses were P30k+ but at the last day when my sister went to the PhilHealth office, and learned that I have to restore back my Philhealth, I was assured to payP10k only do I asked my son to pay my premium for last year. still I paid P10k+ and my SSS is only worth P4k_ and I have to buy my meds too. work is on July yet.

So many have been taken through the ringer with Social Security Disability and SSI. Some are pretty tahnkful for the amount they receive. Of course it isn't much but some are trying to manage. It's a good thing everything went through for you.

@Shavkat better if slow but sure. the first time i filed my application, Mark was unsure so he requested me to come back after 3 weeks and when i went back, he said i should come back yesterday. it was the lady employee who told me that it is sent already. i don't know too how many days shall i wait again.

We are on private health insurance and my husband and I pay $250 a month just for the two of us.. That's $3000 a year..We are lucky to get back a third of that a year.. Maybe we should go on public health instead ..
