Manchester Speculative Fiction’s Revolutions Anthology 2015 Spoiler alerts By far the funniest story in a generally dark collection of Manchester based future tales. Manchester people like me, known as Mancunians, or Mancs, are noted for rivalry with citizens of nearby Liverpool, known colloquially as Scousers, mostly rooted in passions over football teams. Palmer envisages this feud erupting into total civil war which two Manc cops try to bring to an end through a madcap strategy involving blowing up the Manchester Ship Canal. Deeply deliciously silly with a hero called Perceptival Rhoobarb – great fun. Arthur Chappell
