Linda Ronstadt, Elton John, and Bad Brains have all gotten the Top 10 Songs treatment. Meanwhile, Warren Zevon and The Cure are works in progress, and the legendary Merle Haggard is being honored with a Top 20! This was all started by @JohnRoberts, while @FourWalls and myself have joined the fun. As they say, the more the merrier, so pick a band and get cracking! Led by vocalist/guitarist Robert Smith, The Cure formed in the mid-70's and have been, despite a revolving door of sidemen, going strong ever since. For some reason, most likely because of their (usually) dark, gloomy sound and Smith's image, The Cure is referred to as a goth band. I said "usually" because Smith excels at radio-friendly pop songs as well. In 1989, The Cure released arguably their best album, Disintegration, a record that just oozes despair and hopelessness. I'm loath to break Disintegration up into individual songs, because it is an album that must be listened to in it's entirety in order to get the full effect. "Fascination Street," however, was released as a single, and did well enough: #46 on the Billboard Hot 100, and #1 on the Modern Rock Tracks chart, which means that some record exec or other had already broke Disintegration into individual songs. And thusly, because it's such a great tune, it's #8 on my Top 10 (and probably should rank higher, but right now, it's in 8th place.) I eschewed linking the official video because it's a shortened radio edit. You deserve the album version.

Love me some Cure and funny how most manly men have no problem saying that. At least my true friends.

Another one that escaped me and if it is as depressing as it sounds I may have got off lightly!

It's a great song, and the album is a masterpiece, but it's so gloomy if you listen to the entire album in one sitting.

It probably should be higher than #8, but I do have a couple of Cure classic 's coming up.
